Highly recommended. We stayed in Fontana Homes.Love everything about this place. It's a home away from home. We're just so fortunate that we discovered this place. The rooms are cozy and complete with kitchen ware and utensils (can save you money, we cooked instead of always eating out). The owner, Sir Mike and his staff are all friendly and so accommodating including their guard dog, Polo. We'll definitely stay here again. 

The best place to stay in Cebu

Very friendly and helpful owner. The place was very neat and comfortable for a budget friendly price. It gave us homely vibes and there is a very sweet dog there too which heightens your stay. The location of the place makes it easier for one to travel around the city.

Pleasant and comfortable stay

When you step inside this place, a small fountain in the middle welcomes you. Just looking at the whole place from the outside tells you so much. It is private, beautiful, and quiet. The rooms are aesthetically functional and space efficient. For 4 people, it was just right. Wifi was definitely fast even with us four sharing it. Aircon was powerful too. There was hot water for taking a shower. They even provide games. There's cable TV and movies on a USB. There's a manual with all the necessary information you need, even how to use the appliances like the induction stove. There are guards and care takers outside who can help you get a cab and keep you safe. There's also a very sociable and friendly dog who greets you. The hosts make it a point to personally check up on their guests. They even gave us a welcoming cake. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Even if you've forgotten to pay the cab they've arranged for you, they are very forgiving. They are literally available 24/7. (We had an incident at 2am and he was up texting us to make sure things were going smoothly.)

Cozy Home

We went to Cebu City on Aug. 26 to 29 and stayed at Versteeg Vacation's Family Room in their Fontana Apartments. We managed to book via Booking.com. As a tourist, I usually book rooms in hotels near the city center for convenience but I do find the prices a bit expensive considering that I spend most of the day outside. I also do research before booking to assure myself I will not get scammed and to know what to expect.

I came across Versteeg Vacations in Booking.com and read the reviews because I was curious about the ratings. It was 9.5 and that is pretty high compared to five star hotels. The reviews were all positive, and I am adding another positive one. 

The following are things you should know about the place:

1. It is near Fuente Osmeña.
2. It is easy to find and cabs are abundant in the area.
3. The compound is quiet and peaceful. It is not busy like hotels and inns. If you like privacy, consider this place.
4. It is secured.
5. The place is very nice, more like a Spanish Villa. 
6. Parking spaces are available.
7. It is a vacation home so do not expect breakfast to be served.
8. You can cook your own food. They have a complete set of utensils and kitchen tools. Just do take care of their things as you do your own things.
9. Room is just the right size with cabinets for each guest. (Total of 4)
10. They provide towels and toiletries.
11. Ours have a separate toilet and shower room.
12. The room has detailed house rules and guide book for your reference.
13. Free wifi. 😄

What to expect when you book with Versteeg Vacations:

1. After booking, they will contact you via email. Prepare a security deposit too. 
2. They will provide instructions on how to find the place. 
3. When you arrive, hosts Mike and Suzette will warmly welcome you to the place. 😊 
4. Hosts Mike and Suzette will also bid you a nice farewell after your stay. 😊 Very sweet, right? 

I did not expect that I will see the room as advertised in Booking.com. I usually check out traveller's photos rather than the professional photos of the room because they are somewhat deceiving. The photos of our room were honest and straightforward. It was the first time that the photos did justice to what you will see when you enter the room. When I met our hosts, I remember saying how cute the room was in its actuality and Mike said it was the same as the photos...but I hope he got what I was meaning to say. I just did not expect it to be very similar. 😂

Will I book again? Definitely! Especially when I return in Cebu City with family or friends. I highly recommend the place because it feels like home. The hosts are very kind and will definitely make sure you settled in okay. Sad thing though, when you leave, you feel like leaving home. 😭
