During the pandemic Rafael has added an extra floor to the albergue. When we arrived at the entrance the place didn't look so great because they haven't been able to maintain the garden during the pandemic. But the other side of the hotel is simply amazing : it has the best view of the waterfalls. All the rooms have a terrace that looks out onto the falls. There is also an extremely nice and comfy terrace/breakfast room where you can also stay in the evenings (and play on Rafael's guitar). Tastily furnished with local artesania. Comfort of the rooms is 100% (maybe add an extra reading bedside light ?). Great breakfast. Great advice for tours and walks. Internet not extremely strong but still OK. Unfortunately during the pandemic they do not serve food in the evenings.

My family and I went to this place, it was a wonderful experience. The view from the hotel is amazing. Rafael was friendly and give us a lot of tips for our trip. I totally recommend !! This place has the best view for Gocta

Best place !

Sachapuyo is 100% worth it! in terms of price, cleanliness, tasty breakfasts, few guests (it only has 2 rooms) and a breathtaking view of the Gocta waterfall. Mary and Rafael and really helpful, full of good tips and suggestions for your trip. I suggest staying here and from Cocachimba explore Kuélap and other touristic attractions. There is no cellphone signal, but good wifi.

Rafael is a very friendly and helpful  host. He welomed us with fresh juce after a long ride and let us have a late checkout to shower after hiking to the falls. Best view of the falls from Cocachimba with hammocks in lovely outdoor area. Delicious breakfast, too. Small cozy place with only two rooms. We stayed one night, but also great for longer as Rafael also lets guests use the kitchen for cooking.

A highly recommended place to stay at Gocta Falls

Rafael is the most hospitable, considerate, helpful host you will ever meet.

He helped us with everything. From getting from Jaen Airport to his place, to getting up to Cuispes for our hike, to advice on where to go, to offering us drinks, to the breakfasts prepared every morning ... etc .etc.

We started our Amazonas trip at his place. What a perfect place and experience to start our trip!

The location is amazing. What a view! You just have to sit and enjoy it. 

In some ways, Cocachimba is a better location than Chachapoyas. It is fairly close to the main road in the Utcubamba River valley. Chachapoyas is very high up and takes at least 30-45 minutes to descend into the valley.  If you are not a tour/tour bus person, you can easily get to Luya/Lamud area from here and save some time. 

We spent 3 nights here and visited Gocta and Yumbilla Falls during the 2 full days. Both were well worth it!

Cocachimba is a special place, a small village in the middle of the crater. surrounded by nature Albergue Sachapuyo is a magical place that allows you to disconnect and unwind. with only two rooms it is the perfect spot to spend a quiet weekend with nature. Rafael is super friendly and will help you with anything. I would go back.

I really enjoyed the hospitality and the support I received from Rafael when I travelled to Sachapuyo Logde. Rafael really did everything possible to help me arrive at the lodge safe and sound! I arrived at night but when I woke up the next day to enjoy the superb breakfast with the fantastic view to the surrounding mountains and the waterfall in the background, i was immediately conntected to the fantastic nature there. Even though I travelled alone, I was feeling like part of a family and the community there - in particular when we played soccer the other evening with the locals. So all in all, it was such a great experience in such a great and breathetaking scenery that I will never ever forget! I believe I will be going there in someday in the future again!
