I reviewed this hotel last month and would have said it was passable but not excellent.  The outward appearance of it is very low-key....no neon sign; in fact almost no sign at all.  I still would have to say the facilities are far from new and there is not much luxury to be found here, but in terms of the quality of its people, and of value for the money, El Reducto was top notch.  Very few of the staff speak English beyond the basic greetings, but again and again, they went out of their way to be helpful to us.  The rooms are basic but very clean.  Towels are replaced daily.  There is no air conditioning but the temperature was consistently good in March and April, when we were there.  They also have a good elevator that accomodates six people.  A simple continental breakfast was provided daily from 6 until 9:30.  The location of the hotel is also very handy to all your needs.  It is located at the end of the oval shaped Parque Tradiciones, the focus point of a nice upper middle class neighborhood.  It is also located just 5 minutes walking distance from simple budget cafes with excellent food, pastry shops, laundries, and a market (Mercado Surquillo#1)  where anything you may need can be found.  There is also a Wong Supermarket about 6 blocks away.  Our whole group of travelers felt that for the incredibly low cost of $31.50 U.S. per double room, the Reducto was an exceptional value.  Although all the staff was super, our special thanks go to a very competent desk clerk named Joel for all his help to us while staying there.

The quality of the people make it SUPER!

This is a dated building and not much has been done to update it. Although it seems in better shape than in photos of previous reviews. The rooms were clean but very tired and old. It overlooks a busy street and is quite noisy. There was hot water when I was there.

It is advertised as having free wifi although this only available in the breakfast room and lounge. Felt a bit cheated.

Continental breakfast is served in the form of bread rolls, jam, coffee and juice. I took the place as a quick stopover. Not conducive to relaxing travelling. It wasnt the cheapest but i get the feeling for a little more, you can stay much more comfortably.

The Wong supermarket is nearby with an excellent deli.

Better value elsewhere

There's no hot water. Horrendous pillows, hard as rocks. They tried to charge me extra for paying in advance with a credit card. There's too much noise at any time and it comes from people that works at the hotel. Terrible wifi. Not all the rooms have Internet connection. Just look at the pictures. There are better options at the same price or even cheaper. Includes breakfast but I didn't dare to try eat. 

Not good at all

I was at the hotel Reducto in Lima for three nights at the end of april this year. I made the booking through Agoda/booking.com and paid with Mastercard. 
Upon arrival I handed over the voucher and they accepted it. The people at the reception asked me for my credit card and I handed over my Mastercard. They said they were having problems with Mastercard and asked me if I could pay cash. Which I did.
After a couple of weeks I checked my credit card statement and saw that I was charged the same amount which I had paid in cash. When I went back to the hotel to complain about this fact and to ask my money back, they conveniently "didn't remember" that I paid cash upon arrival. They refused to help me.
I complained via e-mail to booking.com and after two months and several e-mails to different people of the "customer service department", the only solution they can offer is that I should contact the hotel myself. I've been there, they won't help me.
So to all who plan on going to Lima, don't stay at the hotel Reducto, they will cheat you out of your money. It's either them or booking.com, who are very unprofessional in helping their customers.
