In this hidden gem you will find peace among the barns and farmhouses and can enjoy the silence in the garden.

Hesla farm is one of the oldest farms in Gol and has beautiful buildings with an exciting history. The earliest mention of Hesla Farm in written history is from 1528. Here you can stay in several different storehouses, an old Hallingstugu and other farm buildings from different time periods. The barn has been converted into a breakfast room for guests. See my attached photos from some of the buildings and rooms and you will understand that this is a very unique place to stay!

We stayed at “Hallingstugu” and really enjoyed this building with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. The house was furnished with old farm furniture.

Before breakfast in the morning Ligia (the host) who was so friendly, showed us around in the barn, breakfast room, the bar and all the others dining rooms. Everything was so authentic and nice. After that she served us coffee and waffles. We got a nice talk for more than an hour, and that made our day!

It is one of the best places we have ever stayed in our country. The price was absolutely fair.

If you are looking for something rustic and really special, with a personal touch, this Norwegian Paradise is the place for you!

Experience really special authentic culture in my beautiful country!

A true little jem in Gol: we really enjoyed the true Norwegian experience with our beautiful wooden cabin with typical interiors and fireplace while outside was snowing. Food was delicious! Thanks for your hospitality, it was our best experience in Norway!

A typical Norwegian experience!

We spend a night in one of the log cabin which was really great as well as the host on site. The site is really nice and confortable with outside furniture to enjoy the view while chilling (table, hammock, chairs) around the farm.

Superb experience

My wife and I went to spend Easter in Gol to do some activities and we found this super nice farm. Ligia spoiled us with a great welcoming and everything from there was just perfect! 
The Stabbur has an old-times charm with many modern facilities so you'll feel comfortable. The breakfast is amazing with homemade bread and fresh eggs right from the hens.
The farm is perfect for kids so they can interact with the animals at the farm, it is also conveniently located 10 minutes walking from Gol Sentrum and many attractions around. Super recommended!

Super cozy and charming experience!

Hesla Gaard is a historic farm with many small buildings and very nice staff. The breakfast was excellent and freshly prepared every time. Our very large room was furnished with old farm furniture. The kitchen was well equipped. We were especially pleased with the many small kindnesses: A small bottle of sparkling wine, fruit, flowers, and a prepared barbecue.
The way to the village (Gol) was short, the village is interesting and nice.   
We would very much like to come again!

Lovingly managed

As a native, and an extensive world traveller - who also has travelled quite a bit in this region (since I was a child 40 years ago)... I can honestly say, this is the best stay I’ve had anywhere in this region, ever! In fact, it was so good that we chose to change our travel itinerary just so we could spend another night here.

Our hostess, a warm and friendly woman from Columbia, delivered a truely outstanding "authentic" Norwegian experience. I say "authentic" in quotation marks, because the true authentic Norwegian experience would most likely entail far less value for money, far less service mindedness, far more industrial made food, far less attention to detail and quality, and far less warmth.

From the second we called late the evening before to book, to the final moments of our stay, we were treated with so much genuine warmth that we thought we would never want to leave.

One often expect that the online presentation is not representative - not the case here. Every nook and cranny in this place meets or exceeds the presentation.

The breakfast is simple, yet very delicious. Everything is locally sourced or home made. The eggs from her own hens, the rich butter from a local dairy, the jam home made, the orange juice freshly squeezed, the freshly brewed coffee piping hot, the bread freshly cooked in the outdoor wood fired oven - presented and brought to our room in a nice basket. 

The buildings are ancient. You feel like you live in a museum - only with modern amenities (delicately integrated with the old - as if they constructed such things 200 years ago).

As we were to leave on our motorcycles early in the morning, our hostess made an early breakfast just for us in the old barn - going over and beyond 

There is no dinner service here. This is no problem as the center of town is only a short walk away (we never used the kitchenette, which seemed decently equipped). 

We have another moto trip planned to the region in two weeks time (end of May). There is no doubt where we will be staying.

Fantastic experience staying here !!! The host was incredible making us feel like family the breakfast in the morning was probably one of the nicest breakfast I’ve ever had. 4 courses and presented beautifully. We stayed in the loft room and it was truly magical. Such a beautiful place to soke up norway and in a superb location. Cannot recommend this place anymore can’t wait to go back !!!!

Absolutely stunning

Like a cozy, clean, neat and warm home, with old farmhouse furniture. Everything we needed to prepare our meals was there. Very friendly and serviceminded hostess. In spite of visiting out of season, they offered us coffee and waffle, served in the fascinating restored cowshed. A small handbag with valuables was left behind.  I was promptly contacted by the staff. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Hesla.


Excellent homestead stay out of season

Staying at Hesla Gaard was probably our best booking experience in Norway. We stayed at a reformed house from 1632! It was cozy, beautiful, special! Our host, Ligia, helped us feel like home. The breakfast was homemade, with Norwegian tradicional waffles, fruits, coffee and biscuits in a warm environment and hospitality.
The house has a kitchen and things to cook, also coffee, tea and biscuits, bathroom with shower, chairs, table and bed with delicious sheets. 
It’s the kind of place you’ll wish to stay for a long time. I strongly recommend! 

Amazing experience in Norway

Breathtaking old farm. Beautiful rooms and furniture. Clean and very nice owner, Lehia
who gave us a "sightseeing"  in the buildings as well. Bathroom, kitchen.TV, nice bed, you have got it all. Very close to the centre of Gol.
