From booking online to checking in the service was excellent.  The hosts were happy to work with me on a special request I made.  Warm and friendly greeting on arrival.  My unit was beautifully clean and the presentation was great.  The unit has tasteful decor and furniture along with some lovely bits if artwork on the walls.  Kitchenette is an added bonus. Close to town too, I loved my stay.  I would happily recommend this as a great place to stay

Fabulous place to stay

Arrived to a clean, warm room. After a long day at work it was great to come back to a clean and tidy room.
Room was cleaned daily. Linen was restocked. Kitchen area was extra clean. I felt safe, this was a safe place to lodge in. 
Easy access to township. Great resturants! All in all an excellent accomondation.🙌🏾💫🥰

Warm, clean and welcoming✨😊

Absolutely fantastic place. The place was spotless when we got here last night. We were there from the 31st May-2nd June 24. Everything was in order. We were in the Executive apartment and were 4 of us. The bedroom had a huge bed with individual towels, hand towels, tv, wardrobe, side tables etc. the lounge had 2 single beds and a whole list of amenities. Sheets were clean, beds were comfortable and we couldn’t have asked for better. They had Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and even packs of cookies. They have cooking facilities in the room which is a bonus. Toilets were very clean and well equipped. Oh and we could take our dog for a small fee. We had a great stay. Thanks Deborah and Karl

Lovely motel

Reading all these previous reviews makes me feel like we stayed in a completely different place.
We drove 6hrs and got to Matariki around 7:20pm to a seemingly grumpy male “host”, no welcome, no walking to room, no small talk.
A second interaction on the next day of our visit was no better, would almost say was much worse as he snapped when asked a general question.

The beds are fairly comfy and the room was clean but a bit dated, the towels need a good napisan and there were ants through the bathroom.
We were in a back unit so road noise wasn’t an issue.

The motel serves its purpose but I definitely wouldn’t be rushing back and especially not to the rude/not suitable-for-customer-relations male “host”

Room was very nice, clean and warm. Great service, and great location! Will definitely book here again in the future

What an awesome place to stay. I have never been made to feel so welcome in all the motels I have stayed in like I was staying at Matariki. Spotless comfortable rooms and the best part?  I could take my 2 little chihuahuas with me. They were made just as welcome as myself   Highly recommend this place and will be returning for sure. AAAA+

Best place ever!

We spent three nights at the Matariki Motor Lodge and our expectations were exceeded in every way. The hosts are so lovely and extremely helpful and even looked after our pooch whilst we went to Waitomo Caves for a few hours. They are super friendly and just love dogs!

The room was beautifully presented, comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved their approach to sustainability and took more steps to help the planet than anywhere else we’ve stayed - including a catchment for grey water bucket in the shower, a separate recycling bin, encouragement to use their allocated bins for green waste. All super easy to do and not over the top. 

It did feel like a home away from home for our family.

Perfect Place for your Pooch

Property was very clean, quiet and property manager was very helpful.

We stayed in a Studio room and found it to be immaculately clean and well kitted out with everything a traveller could need.

The room was spacious, nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. Friendly reception and excellent value for money.
