We are visiting friends next door while the owner came out yelling and swearing at our kids that was having a quick swim to cool off from the heat, although it was after 10pm, they were not that loud.

Unacceptable Behavior

Appears to have previously been a motel where ensuite rooms have been divided to give a separate bedroom making the main room very tight with only a double not queen bed. Clean and tidy but appears to be furnished from an op shop with very old, tired furniture and unmatched crockery. More expensive per night than many motels but much lower quality. Good parking and quiet as set back from the road. Vouchers with codes for internet had already been used up before the first evening was finished.....and we did not use it. No heat pump, a fan was available but in small room with placement of power points was not able to be used without an extension cord which we did not have.

Basic but clean and tidy

We had a wonderful stay, we had our grand daughter with us and she loved it.  It is situated close to our niece and also the beach.  It was clean and had all the facilities we required. As it was Christmas time we were able to put up some decorations which made it feel like home.

Wonderful Experience

Sea Vista was the 1st stop for our 28 days trip to New Zealand. Upon arrival, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a telephone call from Catherine, the manager, who just wanted to make sure everything was OK for us. The unit allocated to us was clean, spacious and well equipped with all the kitchen utensils needed for cooking. The bedrooms were also big with lots of space for our luggage. With my family of 8, we certainly find this apartment perfect for us. Will certainly stay at Sea Vista again for my next visit.

Impressed by good service and great apartment

Have stayed a couple of times now at the Sea Vista Apartments and found them great if you're looking for a self contained (do your own cooking, washing etc) stay right in the North Shore. Its two minutes from the brilliant Waiake Beach (very much the locals secret beach) and a couple of minutes from Browns Bay. The Hebron Road Restaraunt and Tides come highly commended - but with your own fridge, cooker, washer etc - you don't need to eat out every night. Clean, easy and secure parking, friendly staff make it a great stop and right on the coast, right on the shore. Perfect...

Self contained right at the 'shore'

We booked their four bedroomed house for three nights at a rate of $330 a night. Check in was virtually non existent as the young woman at the office literally pushed the key to the house into my hand and said she was going home - this was no later than 4pm.  We were given no details about the house or any information whatsoever to aid us in our stay.  Furthermore we were unable to pay the balance of our booking payment - this payment was taken the following day from our credit card without our permission. I was informed of this when I went the following day to pay. 

However, back to our stay at the house. When we got inside we found on the kitchen notice board a list of demands regarding check out procedure for the house, upon departure we were expected to clean the kitchen appliances, strip the beds and vacuum the floors - I have managed luxury vacation property in places such as £4000 a week villas in the South of France and I have never seen such demands being made on guests. Frankly, I was disgusted.  To add insult to injury when I was closing the sitting room curtains I found an enormous cockroach cuddling up to the curtains! I can only conclude that if the owners of these properties insist on a clean house, maybe they should employ a housekeeper who can deal with creepy crawlies inside of leaving it to their guests. 

The grounds at the front of the house were pleasant enough, however the rear garden was neglected with tatty garden furniture (only two chairs, both of which were damaged) and very little else.  All in all it was a disappointing stay, made all the more disappointing by the fact that a little loving care spent on the house by the owners and the employment of a housekeeper who knows their stuff would seriously transform the place.

Not very impressed

We found the accommodation in Sea Vista Apartments Beach Road Cottage perfect for our needs. We were a party of 5 including a 2-year-old visiting family in the area. The house and kitchen were well equipped and the manager, Catherine, was very quick to find the extra bedside lamps I asked for. There were plenty of towels, pillows and spare linen, as well as free WiFi. The nearest beach, Waiake Bay, is a 5 minute walk down the road and has an excellent cafe/restaurant, Tides, as well as a children's playground - perfect for our toddler.
I had booked before reading the previous review and was so worried that I wrote to Catherine for her comments as well as getting our family to check it out for us. As far as I understand it, the motel had become run down before the new owners took over and they are in the process of updating the units. I can certainly recommend the villa we had wholeheartedly and would have no hesitation in staying there again.
