We are nearing the end of a 3 week visit to New Zealand and have just had the misfortune of staying in the worst accommodation we have experienced in 40 years of worldwide travel. Check In appeared OK but the small sketch map giving directions to the cabin was inaccurate and we were surprised to find the cabin was located half a mile from Reception. We were unable to locate the cabin so returned to Reception. Arrangements were made for a member of staff to meet us at the gate. Half a mile later, no member of staff. Back to Reception and another telephone call. This time member of staff arrived and showed us the "cabin". Total time to Check in almost an hour. It was situated in a mosquito infested camper site and although we were aware the cabin had shared facilities we did not expect this to be a camp site ablution block some 25 yards away. At night this walk was in total darkness.  The cabin was entered via a stack of wooden pallets that were slippery in the wet and in MHO were dangerous especially as they were totally unlit at night. The double bed was awful and of the Meet in the Middle variety. There was no inside table which was a problem as it was raining. There was no water in the cabin. Our fault for not checking the advertised facilities apparently. This probably also applies to the fact that the internal lighting was so poor that we could not read a book. The WiFi was also hopelessly slow but to be fair there was a notice in the cabin warning of this. The only good thing we can say is that the place was clean. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place.

Stay Away

 I stayed at a room suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. The room contained a double bed and a bunk bed.

Unfortunately the bunk bed was faced the other way so a child could not fall asleep on the top bunk as the rail faced the wall. There was also no way of getting to the top bunk as the ladder wasn't attached.

The kitchenette did not have a cooktop and the microwave had a door that was hard to close.

The place had two heaters. 1 heater was very rattly. It also had a radio which my son bumped and it blew the fuse out.(the wire was exposed) I complained to the receptionist but he was quite rude due to a lack of training I believe. I didn't bother to mention the other concerns as his response was very unprofessional.

I do not recommend this place to a family with small children.

Sheets were clean and the bathroom was good.
