You can save money

The New Light Hotel met our expectations very well. It is fairly simple, but has everything that's needed. The rooms are large, light and airy, with basic furnishings of bed, mini-fridge, wardrobe and chair. There is also a small TV. The bathroom is functional and fairly large, with a good shower (but non-functioning hot water!). The staff is friendly, although don't speak much English - but go out of their way to help. The wi-fi signal is pretty good. Breakfast is fairly typical Myanmar hotel fare - pretty dull and basic. White sliced bread, margarine, red jam, cold fried eggs, noodle soup. It's served on the hotel roof, which is nice.

Disabled or those with heavy cases note there is no elevator, and only narrow winding stairs. My room was at the back of the hotel, and so was relatively quiet. Those at the front, road side are noisier.

There is an excellent Thai restaurant opposite the hotel called Good Times Restaurant Thai Foods. I strongly recommend - cheap, tasty, and with a nice lady in charge.

Good choice in Dawei - cheap, clean & basic

Staff was always ready to answer my questions.
The room is basic and quite big. Got the last room in the back, quieter there.
Breakfast is nothing unfortunately...
I appreciated after 2 nights of stay they changed my nights from 4 to 2 because  unexpectedly a place came free at Sin Htauk beach bungalows and we went overnight there.
They were really helpful for this and my bags stayed in the hotel until we where back from peninsula. Appreciated!

Friendly staff - centrally located in Dawei

Arrived in Dawei at the extremely inconvenient time of 0430 by bus from mawlamyine.
I had booked their last room for later that night, but due to the time, the manager allowed me to kip out on the couch in the reception area. I was able to get into the room at about 0930 which was great as I was very tired.
Room was on the 3rd floor (highest) and was clean and roomy with a large double bed and air conditioning.
This place has helpful staff, is clean and in a fairly good location. This will be popular with tourists on a budget.

Good budget accommodation

The hotel is located on the main road and the (only) money changer in the area is next door.

English is not on the top priority of this place, so one has to be very patient. The rooms are of comfortable size. Basically furnished yet clean. For shower you will have warm but not hot water. It's OK for the price when compère to other hotels around.

Breakfast is very basic: rice topped by a fried egg, which is served on the hotel's top (4th) floor. NO LIFT, therefore if u have heavy suitcase - ask for room on a lower floor.
For the room to be serviced/clean you not only need to leave the sign on the door, your also need to request for your room to be cleaned and make sure to leave your room key at the reception, too.

Two doors next to the hotel you will find the D3 Restaurant which has a menu in English and a young guy whom will try to help with his limited English but yet very accommodating.

Tip: to learn your way within the province I recommend Bhon 09762499505 a native to Dawei and very helpful guy.

Reasonable hotel

Stayed for a few weeks...the staff were friendly and helpful.The room was clean and basic but airy and comfortable. Housekeepers tried to simply burst into the room while I was in the shower (so lock the door) and they threw away some expensive medication I had in the fridge. Not sure how it stacks up against others in town... my friends stayed at other places and they seemed a bit cheaper and slightly better standard...but this is Dawei. Great little Thai restaurant across the road with delicious and cheap food.
