What a great little Bed & Breakfast right in the most picturesque part of Chefchaouen! You can't ask for better location and nicer staff. Both man at the front desk and lady making us fresh breakfast to order (included in rate) went out of their way to please us. Yes, the hotel is basic but it has everything you need, is clean, has fast wifi, perfect location, amazing staff and is very affordable. All popular photo spots are within 1-10 min walk. Highly recommended!

Perfect location in Chefchaouen

Excellent service by Yassine and the lady. The hotel has a great location very close to Kazbah yet still quiet. Grand views on rooftop terrace, good wifi, hot water, rooms are just perfect, and lovely typical Moroccan breakfast. Highly recommend, Shoukran Yassine!

Perfect mid-range hote right in the middle of beautiful Chefchaoen!

I cannot say enough about the fantastic service and hospitality I received at Hotel Koutoubia in Chefchaouen. I was only thinking of staying 2 or 3 nights but ended up staying here a full week, as I fell in love with this picturesque little town, and the welcome I received here made me feel so at home during my month away. The hotel's location is ideal, just a few minutes' walk from the main town square, and right in the heart of the Medina so you can explore, photograph, shop, and eat to your heart's content. The rooms here are small but comfortable, with a private bathroom and hot shower. Having been quite cold overnight at my last lodging, I was adamant about booking a place with heat, and Koutoubia had heaters in the room as well as plenty of blankets if needed. The rooftop terrace is a comfy spot with wonderful views, and feels amazing during the day when the sun pours in. I used it quite a lot to work and to hang out in the evenings since we were under a 9pm curfew. Most importantly, the host Yassine was so very helpful and welcoming that he made my stay infinitely better than it could've been. Yassine took time to walk around the Medina with me, pointing out some of the best photo ops and even taking some pics for me since I was alone. He gave me tips on where and what to see, and even accompanied me to the Spanish Mosque for sunset, which is a must-see while in Chefchaouen, but if you don't know about it or where to go you might miss it entirely. Every evening after curfew, I came up to the terrace and there was Moroccan tea and the Moroccan cookies & sweets I came to love, even though my waistline did not! I've already recommended this place to a few friends in Morocco, and would do so to anyone without reservations. You might come as a guest, but you'll leave feeling like family.

Fantastic hotel, location, and hospitality

The hosts at Hotel Koutoubia made me feel like part of the family, even before the coronavirus crisis. They gave me directions for a biking expedition to Akchour, took me out to visit a small village on the Mediterranean stopping along the roadside so I could take pictures of the magnificent views and shared meals and tea on several occasions. After the beginning of the crisis, they offered me refuge in case I could not go home insisting on the fact that I could stay as long as I needed without any worries free of charge. I almost regretted being able to get tickets to return home!

This hotel is in a very good location inside the median.  At first it seemed a little had to find but once we located it we saw it was just inside the medina.  I will say that it was kind of noisy the night we were there.  About 2:30 some drunks got in a fight in the medina and it sounded like it was right in front of the hotel.

I cant remember the lady which make one of best traditional Moroccan Breakfast so delicious.
Very clean and comfortable rooms.
Recomended to all visiting Blue City.


One of best hotel in Blue City

This hotel is located in the old Médina and souk. its a great location and lots going on nearby. But Because of being in the old Médina, the rooms are tiny and the bathrooms even tinier. We stuffed 4 adults and baggage into one room with some clever arranging because most hotels were booked (about 2 months ahead). 
Hi’s: Right in souk; balcony room overlooking city, friendly (although often absent ) staff, beds ok, enough linens
Lo’s: tiny, poorly lit room, no place to put baggage, no elevator, steep stairs, staff gone when you need them, right near muezzin with no way to avoid a 5:30am wake up due to loud, loud prayer call.

Our stay at koutoubia was over shadowed by them taking payment for our room twice. Yes mistakes can happen but 2 months later they are unhelpful. 

The hotel itself is ok for a  budget place. Small room and non working air con frustrating. Location in the medina was convenient. 

Seem disorganised and clearly can’t handle the payment side of things. Just to clarify , they took cash payment for room and then charged my credit card -
Watch them for this if you choose to stAy 

Got charged twice for room

My husband and booked at Hotel Koutoubia through Booking.com, and were looking forward to staying there as we have read good reviews about it.
We have been travelling through Morocco and we are currently in Tangiers. We were supposed to check in at Hotel Koutoubia Sep23, and Check out Sep 26.
I emailed them few days ago to request Room10 as it is quieter. We received a confirmation via email indicating we will have it for the first 2 nights but we have to move to another room for the 3rd night. 
I emailed them to thank them and to ask them to cancel the 3rd night and we'll decide once we are there depending on the room we get. 
I emailed them a second time. After I haven't heard from them I tried cancelling the 3rd night through Booking.com, but I couldn't make any changes.
To my surprise even though the deadline to cancel and/or make changes wasn't until Sep21, I found out we were charged the full price on Sep19. I decided to call them. The gentleman we spoke to told us it was too late to make any changes as it was past the deadline, when it was not. I explained to him that we still want to stay at their hotel and all we want to do is cancel the 3rd night and decide once we are there. I also asked him why did they charge us the full amount. He said they have a new system in place, and this is something done by Booking.com. I argued that this is not Booking.com practice as we have booked through it for all of our stay during our trip.
After I realized the conversation wasn't heading anywhere, I told him that the only option I ma left with is to cancel the entire booking. I did so immediately after getting off the telephone with him. I received the confirmation of the cancellation from Booking.com.
I believe the guy we spoke to on the phone didn't have the capacity to cancel the 3rd night. He said he was unable to do so on the system.
I am very disappointed by this experience especially by the fact that I got charged on my Visa for the full amount (3 nights) before the deadline to cancel and before we even arrived.  None of the Hotels or Riads we stayed at charged us before check-in. We only paid before checking out.

We stayed in Koutobia for only a night. We really enjoyed the hotel!
It's a fact that the rooms are very small but they are clean and cozy.
The staff was amazing, we had a welcome drink that they gave us a lot of tips about the city and the most amazing viewpoints all over the city.
The best of this hotel, for me, is the terrace. It has an amazing terrace where we chilled after we visited the city!
Also, it's located in the city center.
