Booked based on the photos seen here and on their website for 4 nights. When we arrived there was not a coffee maker, microwave, safe  or mini-frig in the room. The rooftop pool did not have any chairs or loungers and the bar was just starting minimal food service. There was not daily housekeeping and we were told by the front desk that the rooms are not attended daily.  The staff was friendly and we found out the hotel was recently sold and appears the old management took most of the amenities with them.  We feel we should have been told about these changes at the time of booking as we did book directly through the hotel.

The locations was good, just a couple of blocks from the mail square but far away enough as to not hear any of the parting at night.

Not as Advertised

Hotel was nice, a good place to spend a few days in Sayulita (which is an incredible beach town!)

The good: 
 * The rooftop pool has nice views and a good area to relax and lounge 
 * The bartender (can't remember his name) is amazing, so friendly and we loved having conversations with him 
 * Nice to have wifi throughout the building 
 * The location is perfect, close to the plaza but far enough away that it wasn't too noisy 

The not-so-good: 
 * Price. We paid significantly more for this stay than other available places in the area which in hindsight was a mistake. There was really no reason this place should be charging so much more than other available hotel/airbnbs/etc without offering more services or amenities. 

Overall, hotel is good, clean, and safe. For us personally we would probably look at other places for our next visit (if you're paying luxury hotel prices it might be nice to stay in a luxury place) but maybe we just had bad timing with high prices and limited availability.

Average hotel but pricey.

As of day 4 of my 9 night stay I remain unimpressed. This hotel could be so much better but overall I would not be staying again. 

In summary the only thing it has going for it is a comfortable bed and convenient location. Too far to be close and too close to be far from the noisy downtown core. 

In summary:
The staff are generally indifferent, unprofessional and more or less a motely crew. The encounter with front desk agent was unfortunate. I had to use Google translate to get a simple " can I get another pillow in my room." request.

The hotel is in disrepair and lackluster. For what I was charged expected much more based on other experiences. 

Problems as follows:

Towel bars and shelves in bathroom practically falling off. 
Soap pump dispensers in shower broken. 
Room safe - key pad doesn't work. I had to practically beg for a key to it to only find out the safe is tiny and not attached to anything lol. It has barely enough room for a clutch bag and cell phones. Certainly not a laptop or tablet. 
Bathroom fan doesn't work at all. 
Mini bar fridge full of ice due to broken seal. 
TV channels all fuzzy. Not even one English or Sports channel. 
Bedside lamp doesn't work. I brought it to front for replacement they simply said no can't help me. 
I asked for ice one night and none to be found. I was told that but in reality nobody wanted to get some for me. (how can a hotel NOT have ice). 
Breakfast unremarkable. 
Small Pool was like a hot tub too hot and you can't cool off, and never saw anyone ever checking chemical counts. Water was fuzzy so didn't take any chances. 

And finally if you want a peaceful night's stay bring your earplugs. I have had to use them every night. They don't control 3 am disruptions very well. All the sound carries so if you are a light sleeper good luck. 

The beds are comfy, wifi is pretty good and decent coffee. That's all I can say that is positive. 

With a little training and basic maintenance this hotel could be much better but until then I won't be back.

3 DRESSED UP AS A 9

My family stayed at hotel OZ! The rooms were dirty, bedding had stains, 1 room had no hot water, towels were pathetic & they only give out 2!! Complaints were reported but nothing done about it. Terrible!

Family vacay at Hotel OZ

Wonderful staff and location in Sayulita!  Breakfast included and wonderful rooftop pool and decks.  Rooms were very much as described, with comfortable beds and lighting. Like a lot of lodging in Sayulita, can be a very noisy place in early morning due to traffic and roosters.

Great lodging and affordable in Sayulita

We never felt safe in this property, I was suspicious that they looked (or even tried) into my clothes and personal things.  It is terrible not to be able to trust the place you stay when you are looking for relaxing vacations.
Zero problem solving.

Also, the staff never used masks or any other safety measure, they just smiled and did nothing.

Do not stay here!

Terrible experience

I always research hotels before booking.  Being an experienced traveler, I understand the importance of having a relaxing hotel as your sanctuary to rest up for your next adventure.  Oz Hotel in Suyalita is superb.  Excellent location.  It is on Revolution avenue just a minutes walk from the center of town.  It's steps away from highly rated restaurants like Alquimista (best breakfast) and Aaleyah's (best shrimp tacos).  It's about a 15 minute walk to Playa De Los Muertos.  Well worth the trek.  It even has an urgent care style facility across the street to get your COVID test done before returning back to the states.

There's no place like Oz

The clients of my travel agency stayed only 3 nights in this inn-hotel and found it strange that some employees were in front of the doors of some rooms, in the hotel corridors. On the last day, when they went out for a walk, they decided to return right away to get more money from the safe box and saw an employee in front of their room, and then another one leaving the room, saying they were tidying up; when they opened the safe there was USD 220.00 missing, that is: employees had access to the hotel safe box with a Master password. My clients complained to the hotel manager, who said he would investigate, but his response was to offer 2 nights as a gift for future use as compensation, knowing that the guests would never return to Puerto Vallarta. I suggested to this manager, through email directly to him, to transform the value of these daily rates into USD and return it to customers, but he never responded to emails... AVOID THIS HOTEL!!!

Unsafe hotel for guests - employees have access to safe deposit boxes

Booked a stay, they made me pay then room was under construction, they then lied and said booking was for the next night, they then extorted me for a further night. Despite booking.com stating 2 guests, they only said allowed 1. When I brought this up, the security guard and general manager tried to fight me in the lobby. This place is completely corrupt and run by the cartel. Do not stay here if you want to be safe. I had to end up leaving after the manager kept forcing his way into my room to try and make me pay more.
