This was an out of the way gorgeous villa with crazy views. I woke to the birds and lounged in my balcony hammock as the sunset, watching the lights come up in town and the stars filled the sky. 

It was so close to Playa Ropa for safe swimming in the sea, and a half block walk to busses and taxi. The bus is 13 pesos to get to the center of the town and so easy and fun.

Although it advertised free breakfast on trip advisor, ask first, as my room did not come with breakfast, but they did serve a good breakfast. 

No kids allowed so very quiet.

Beautiful quiet villa with fantastic views

I do not know where to start in describing this indescribable property! We have been home for two days and are already planning next year's stay.  This review lists all the 'Pros' but let me say that there were no 'Cons' to our stay.  Not even the 100 steps to our room (La Perla) at the very top of the hotel.  The stairs were worth every step to get the reward of the amazing view!  Plus it's good exercise!  If you don't want the stairs, there are several other rooms lower down.

Erica and her staff are so warm, friendly and helpful.  The room was spotlessly cleaned by the always friendly Maria.  The bed was comfortable, and with the ocean breezes we rarely needed the available and efficient air conditioning.

We had breakfast every morning on the lovely terrace, served by our dear Anahi (who also staffed the front desk during the days) and cooked by her mother.  Breakfast included lively conversation with the other guests and shared pointers in Spanish and English with Anahi.

The beach and restaurants at Playa la Ropa are only five minutes' walk away,  the hotel will call you a taxi if you want to go to town or further afield, and there are the kombi buses and taxi stand just three minutes' walk from the hotel.  Bus is 13 pesos to town, taxi is about 90 pesos.

We loved the beach, but equally enjoyed lazy days at the quiet and beautiful hotel pool. Most of the time, we were the only ones enjoying the tranquil beauty of the gardens and the perfect water temperatures.

One night we returned after dinner looking for ice in the lobby refrigerator.  with none to be found, the night staff offered to arrange to get some for us.  We assured them it was not necessary and retired to our room.  What a surprise to get a call from Erica a few minutes later apologizing about the ice and offering to have some delivered to our room.  That is the kind of service you can expect at Hotel Casa Don Francisco!

Home Away from Home in this Magical Place

First time we’ve stayed here and I’ve booked again for next year. Erica the host is very knowledgeable and always available to help with any questions or concerns. Anahi who we saw everyday at breakfast was friendly and also super helpful, the best hosts ever. The property itself is stunning with incredible views , beautiful pool and lush gardens. The rooms have super comfortable beds with nice new linens, small fridge , coffee maker. It’s in a nice quiet area just steps from the beach . Absolutely loved it !!

A gem in paradise!

Hotel Casa Don Francisco is one of the most charming and elegant hotels in all of Zihuatanejo.  I felt so lucky to have found this special boutique hotel owned and managed by a remarkable woman named Erica along with her outstanding staff (Anahi, Victoria, Mari, and Roman).  From the first time I stayed at this hotel two years ago through my most recent six-week visit in 2022, this amazing team of people made me feel extremely welcomed and took care of my each and every need. From preparing delicious and customized breakfasts each morning to keeping the finely appointed rooms impeccably clean, they always went the extra mile to make sure my visit was thoroughly enjoyable….I couldn’t have asked for better service.  The view from my spacious room was beyond spectacular overlooking the entire beach at Playa La Ropa, and I would fall asleep every evening to the gentle sound of ocean waves and cool breezes.  Plus, the grounds and manicured gardens at Casa Don Francisco are truly stunning, including a magnificent swimming pool where I could easily spend hours each day relaxing and luxuriating under the warm sun or in the shade.  I can’t say enough about this exquisite hotel with its rare combination of beauty and hospitality, but I can say that I’m looking forward to returning for many years to come.year.   I sincerely hope that you will be fortunate enough one day to discover this jewel of a hotel on your next visit to Zihuatanejo. A Rare Jewel

This year was our longest stay ever at Casa Don. After not being able to come last year six weeks turned into seven because we weren’t ready to leave our home away from home. Never before have I seen the type of care that was afforded to those who stay at the hotel. Erica, owner/manager literally can move mountains for her guests. When one is in a foreign country and has special needs or wants, Erica is like a modern day Superwoman. 
Her staff is the best. Mari is obsessed with keeping my room spotlessly clean and keeps my vase full of fresh flowers from the gardens. Chef Vicky makes delicious made to order breakfasts, my special Quesadilla a la Claudia, and provided me with a cooking lesson for Tinga de Pollo. The modern stainless steel kitchen is kept spotless under her charge. Anahí aka Chicky,  serves us and keeps us laughing with her quips. Over time  her English has so improved that she gets our jokes and gives it to us right back. She also attends to our needs and referred us to a friend with a nice car who transported us to Playa Larga at a very affordable price. She does a great job for Erica. Roman, who works in the gardens and is the night guy is now my Angel. As I was walking down the steps, I became distracted and started to “fly”. Thankfully, Roman caught me and kept me from injury. Lastly, I want to make a special mention  to Jose, our night guard, and an employee for many years who  became ill and passed on from this world. We will not forget the special care and hard work he provided. 
Thank you, Erica, my dear friend, for another fun year. I will miss our Breakfast Chisme and you. I will also miss my skort which I’m sure you are now wearing. 😂 Who would have known so many years ago that we would have become the best of friends. ❤️ Nos vemos el año proximo.

Love, Love, Love

My wife and I spent a fantastic week here.  The small hotel is located just off the beach at the southern end of Playa Ropa.  Restaurants and the beach are just a few minutes away.  Playa Las Gatas is a quick 15-minute walk away too.  The staff at the hotel is sweet and friendly.  The chef, Victoria, took the time to show us how to make Chicken Tinga--delicious!  Erica arranged for us to meet a local bird guide at Playa Linda.  Speaking of birds, the stairs to the side of the property, lead to a dirt road that was birding paradise!  We saw the Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, Russet-Crowned Motmot,  Orange-Breasted Bunting, and many others on this road behind the property.
The free breakfast was stellar.  The grounds are immaculate.  The rooms are spacious and well decorated.
We highly recommend Casa Don Francisco!  You will enjoy yourself!

Great for birders!

This is a wonderful Small Hotel. It is at the far end of La Ropa Beach owned by the family that owns La Perla. Everything is first class. The views are incredible. The help is friendly.. Annahi at reception, Jose in the evening and Erica who owns and manages the property are all wonderful. They can’t do enough for you to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. The pool is so beautiful and the grounds are stunning. The birds wake you up in the morning and complimentary breakfast is served on their terrace in the morning. We spent 19 nights with them and felt part of the family. Very, very special place.

Doesn’t Get Any Better

Hotel Casa Don Francisco has it all,  wrapped up into a small, 8 room boutique hotel. Family owned and run by Erica, with an emphasis on service, details, cleanliness, relaxation, and a desire to make your stay the best ever. The made to order breakfast is included in the price. 
After breakfast, one  can spend a day at the beach (which is just steps away), lounge by the hotel infinity pool, or lay in the hammock on your own private patio, as you listen to the sound of the waves. Also, nearby is Deisy’s Massage one of the most popular places to get a massage, pedicure or manicure. The bus stop and taxi stand are also very close.
No worries here... the staff has been with Erica for years, so anything you leave out in your room will be there when you return. For that reason and a thousand others I return each and every year for 6 weeks to relax and rejuvenate. And also, to visit all the many friends from all over the world I have made here over the last 15 years. Returning to Zihuatanejo every year and staying at this hotel is something I plan on doing for years to come. Muchas Gracias, mi Amiga! Another exciting adventure with my exciting Amiga. 


Peace, Serenity, Butterflies, Birds and Tropical Gardens. 

Due to health concerns we had to cut our 20 Mexican vacation in half.  We had to find a place to stay for our last four nights before heading home.  We have been coming to Zihua for three years and wanted to stay in La Ropa but did not have a reservation. We met Ericka and she suggested Casa Don Francisco.  We were able to get a room for four nights.  We could not have been more pleased.  Ana and the staff were helpful and attentive to our needs.  Breakfast was amazing.  The room was just what we were looking for.  What a great way to spend our last three nights is Zihua.  Thanks.

A Great way to spend our last four days.

Due to "our" reservation mix up at the family run Casa Celeste central Zihuatanajo, we found ourselves homeless! Esmeralda from Casa Celeste called her sister Erica the owner/manager of Hotel Don Francisco who accommodated us with a room for our last night.  They arranged for their nephew to pick us up and drop us at the new location.  On a side note, because we had so much luggage he assumed we were going to the airport...so a ten minute ride turned into an hour.  All the family members were concerned where we went.  The three of us had a great laugh, such a nice young fellow, he even took us to the bakery to pick up our favourite pastries.  My sister and I still laugh when we tell people the story.  Back to the hotel,.. As soon as we entered the lobby and Anais greeted us we couldn't believe our luck.  The gardens were absolutely beautiful.  The tranquility pool so inviting.  Our suite was up a short flight of stairs, when we entered the living area we had a balcony with a beautiful view, our own plunge pool, open air shower and large bedroom with a king size bed.  Quoting the brochure "the hotel is surrounded by lush tropical exotic gardens".  The breakfast was very good and service ditto.  Erica greeted us on the patio, and we expressed our gratitude for taking us off the streets of Zihuatanajo LOL.  Thank you Erica and staff for a wonderful last night stay in Zihua.
