 Passed through guadalajara and stayed in casa Corazon for a week . It was really well priced and well kept . I recommend it for an economic option. The street markets there are the best around Mexico. It's a thriving sustainable community culture not often seen here in Mexico.

We found Corazon Guest House online at Workaway.com and arrived from New Zealand 3 weeks ago and haven't looked back. Baz (Australian) and Cora (Mexican) are very accomodating and helpful to say the least.

The guest house caters for short and long term lodgers, a mix between local students, young professionals and international staff. It has a communal vibe and is a melting pot to excel your spanish, meet new people, visit the local markets and share stories around the fire pit.  

In our spare time, we would explore nearby suburbs like Tlaquepaque, the Historico Centro and Chapultpec (7 peso bus ride). If you like wrestling, Lucha Libre is on offer at night.
On the weekends, we would leave our bags and venture to Lake Chapala, Ajijic (1 hour bus ride) and Tequila!

Cora runs an in-house economic kitchen providing affordable meals to guests and the community - I recommend chile relleno and pollo mole! 

If you can't get what you are looking for at the local markets, the Oxxo, supermarket, butcher, park and other amenities are all within walking distance. The 8 peso taco cart is a must try too!

If you want to escape the tourist track and be surrounded by real Guadalajara living, Corazon Guest House is a great, affordable place to base yourselves from.

The room is very clear. People is very friendly. The place is homy. It is very easy to catch a bus to any place you want to go to. They offer a lot of activities to do, such as bonfire. They have two very friendly kitties and seven rabbits in the beautiful eco garden. If you are looking for friendly and homey place to live in. This is definitely the first choice of yours.
