Hotel Real del Mar

Important! This review is really only valid if you are coming to Veracruz for the quite insane Carnaval week! The Malecon area is a totally different place the rest of the year and I cannot speak to that. This hotel gets its points because it may have the best parade-viewing private balconies on the entire parade route. They are big enough for a table and four chairs and the view is perfect. That recommendation holds true only for the rooms across the front of the hotel, 301-309 and 401-409. Other rooms go down the sides of the building and the balconies are tiny. Beds were good, shower fine, towels very thin. Soundproofing excellent, but don't expect ANYTHING to keep out the noise of Carnaval! You came for that experience; don't shortchange it by wasting time sleeping.
