HM Retreat

We ended up here due to a problem with our rooms in another hotel so they shifted us here.  The hotel is very new and the rooms are very comfortable.  It is right near the beach and there are a number of restaurants nearby that you can try.  The breakfast is fairly limited but it isn't too bad. We were pleasently surprised with the internet, the signal was nice and strong and fast which we have found to be somwhat of a rarity in hotels. Considering we weren't booked in here, we were very happy with our stay.  The staff was helpful and the rooms were comfortable so it is good little hotel.

Big comfy spacious room! The attendants forgot to place towels and water in my room, but I got it easily at the reception. Service was good too! Hotel manager was very helpful! So were his staff when I requested for later check out. Thank you!

Hotel offers day packages out of Hulhumale to sand banks, resort islands etc. Just enquire at the counter or via email! 

A bikini beach recently opened just a 5mins walk away!!! So you can get your fair share of sun and beach on Hulhumale! There are no shops there, so bring your own drinks and snacks, and beach towel to relax! 

The airport bus stops 200m away from the hotel! Load offline Google maps early and walk over! It's pretty easy to navigate.

There are lots of construction going on nearby. Believe many more hotels will spring up in the next couple of months, and the beaches will become better! :)

Big room, nearby bikini beach, day tours!

What worked - nice comfortable bed and bedding. Lots of hot water. Great location and very near to nice and reasonably priced places to eat. Really good and fast internet included in the room. What's not so good - the lighting. Bedside lamps couldn't be plugged in - wrong plugs! Room was dark. Had a kettle but no cups or tea/coffee? No info on the tourist beach which is only a 3 minute walk away which we didn't discover until our last day. $10 transfer to airport charge when other reviews had mentioned this was free.

There is a tourist beach. It's at the airport end of Eastern Beach. You can swim and relax on the beach in a bikini without hassle. Walk along the beack or Road as far as the road goes before the sharp bend to the right. The tourist beach is there. There is plenty of shade too.

Ok place to spend a couple of days or comfortable stop over. Much better choice than going to Male

Good:

Room is spacious (for the rate). 
Clean beddings. 
Clean toilet..shower is good.
Near bus stop going to airport (around 400-500m).
Staff is polite and helpful.
Just 10-15m walk towards the beach.
Had a nearby grocery store.

Not so good:

Understaff. Reception is always unmanned.
No hot water.
Not licensed to serve halal foods so they only provide breakfast which includes toast, sausage, egg and jam-everyday.
Wifi is slow and cable only shows 2-3 channels. But according to some locals, this is common for the entire island.

If i have to stay in hulhumale again - I wouldnt hesitate staying in HM Retreat again. Serves it's purpose anyway.



Comfortable with basic amenities

Hulhumale has a horrible/ disgusting beach full of rubbish, mosquitos... so dont go to this hotel for the beach.
The hotel has ants, very poor breakfast.
No lift, not spacious rooms.
Very expensive if you add the taxes, for they give you
