It's a basic hostel near the river side. Dorms are very basic, dirty toilets, nothing special but that's what you get for what you pay. It must be one of the cheapest hostels in Vientiane and that's why I had booked for one night, actually couple of hours only. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. The breakfast included is decent and the staff is efficient and nice. If you are a solo traveler on budget, like me, then it is a good choice.

Half the bathrooms were out of order and the other half were missing toilet seats. The sheets were stained and dirty and half the beds were missing lightbulbs. Air con wasn't great and gets switched off during the day. Is located on a good part of town with good eating and drinking options nearby. Basically you get exactly what you pay for at this place.

I can’t speak to the condition of the rooms but the motos are complete trash.

We rented one to take a cruise and enjoy the day.  The rear tire blew out a few kilometers from city center, just after the rear brake stopped functioning.  After a couple seconds of fighting for control as the rear started to slide back and forth I managed to maneuver to the side of the road.

Tried to contact the hostel but no answer.  I pushed the now useless moto well over two miles to a repair shop who replaced the tire.

Upon return to the hostel I tried to explain to the staff what had happened but was met with complete indifference.  I wasn’t asking for a refund or reimbursement for the new tire.  I just wanted them to be aware of the major problems with the maintenance of the moto they rented.  

They had the nerve to look at the BRAND NEW REAR TIRE AND tell me that it was “still broken”.  I already had my passport back so I told them to go F-themselves and calmly strolled away down the street.

Avoid this death trap of a moto rental, especially if you don’t have experience in motorcycles/scooters.   Better yet just avoid them altogether.  It’s not worth the risk.

Motos are complete junk

I have booked the 13 of November 2019 a transfert from Vientiane to Hue. The reception of the Funky Monkey Hotel told me that I will be dropped in the center of the city of Hué. At the main bus station in Hue.
Actually I was dropped in the middle of the countryside at 15 km from Hue!!
I was lucky to find a car but I had to pay an extra of 100000 kip for the fare. This point is unacceptable. 
Second point the 3 men in charge of the journey in the bus - 20 hours !! - speak to foreigners tourists as they were dogs!! Not acceptable either.
A real shame.

Voyage entre Vientiane au Laos et Hué au Vietnam

First of all I would like to state I haven’t actually stayed in this ‘residence’. 
However what I have experienced would make me encourage you to never stay nor give your business to this hostel. 

We were walking along the street trying to find somewhere to do our laundry and this was one of the first places we spotted so went inside. Handed over the laundry etc. Were told we didn’t need the receipt as they would just check it into their book. Went on with our day. 

30 hours later, we went to pick up the washing. It had been washed, but wasn’t clean whatsoever. I highly doubt they put wash powder in it. We then realised we were missing our towels, at which point a girl came down from upstairs with a plastic dish and showed the manager and she said ‘there are bed bugs everywhere, I’ve just got these off from the bed’ to which the manager replied ‘so?’ (Which FYI was left in a dish behind the counter and then crawled over our washing, wahooo). 

Eventually our towels were bought to us and they were filthy. Like. Worse then when we left them (not that they were dirty they just needed a freshen). There were orange marks all along them and they were soaking wet and smelt like wet dog. When I asked about the marks I was told ‘oh it’s the rust from the washing line’. Cool. So then I asked for them to be washed again and we’d pick the up the following day. 

To cut a long story short, we went twice to pick them up and when they were ‘ready’ they were handed back over and had been bleached to death. One towel was originally blue and white stripped and the other blue patters with dark blue palm trees. You can see the attached pictures from what we were given back. We then asked to speak to a manager and was made to sit for an hour and a half. My partner spoke to him on the phone and said ‘you can’t prove it. Prove it. I dare you’. We said we had proof and he said he’d be there. Eventually after an hour went by we spoke to him again and he said he wouldn’t be back tonight. We then went the following morning and was met with a torrent of abuse. Denial that they had damaged them and said we bought them to them like that. I mean. C’mon. Jesus, why would we lie about two ruddy towels?? Anyway. They said to give them the receipt and he’d give us the money back. Now if you can remember and haven’t fallen asleep reading this, they never gave us no damn receipt. I told them this and he said they didn’t keep copy’s of anything. They kept nothing. I said he was lying to me and what would happen if I looked behind the counter?  Of course he got defensive and started to shout at me. I then said that we could look on CCTV and he proudly told me the cameras didn’t work. Anyway so he said he wasn’t giving any refund and in the end we walked away with 10,000KIP.(approx $1.70) The towels were $30aud. Yay. 

Half way through towel-gate 2018 a lad came down with complaints of bed bugs again. And before we left a couple had come down with their bags packed and we’re demanding a refund as there was ‘giant bed bugs’ everywhere. Yeah good luck with that refund guys. 

Anyway. This is a really long review for a couple of towels. BUT the customer service we were given, the bed bugs, the attitude, the waiting around, the verbal abuse, the lying and down right rudeness really deserves to be outted. 

Don’t stay here. Don’t wash here.In fact close your eyes when you walk past, just in case. 

Ps you don’t even deserve 1 star you towel bleaching, bed bug breeding, fools. 

AVOID! 

Rude& unprofessional staff, including the owner. Room was dirty, metal bunk beds make a huge noise. No toilet on the dorm floor, no hot water. Aircons are switched off in the morning until evening. Avoid.

One star is too much for this place.
Literally THE WORST i have stayed in yet. Incredibly rude owner and staff. They are not able to enter into a discussion at all, you just get thrown out. The place also smell like mold and is unhygienic! I have honestly no idea how it is still open...

Do NOT go here

.... Stayed there one night, about 12 persons dorm, and got bedbugs. Also some other person got them. Staff didnt do anything about it. Also the beds are uncomfortable. Cheap hostel. Location is good.
