I never stayed in the bungalows, I have merely eaten there a couple of times.
Apparently they don't even know how to cook something as basic as pad thai.
The chicken was horrible.
The mango shake was ok, with too much ice as happens everywhere in this island.
The staff was on the edge of rude when I showed up. No wonder they are always empty. 

Horrible food. Unenthusiastic staff. 

The view is great, very very basic and not really clean. No hammock and the few chairs on the balcony are broken. If you go straight to the hotel it is 3 times cheaper than online booking. No information provided neither a simple hello when you arrive. 

Overpriced 

A friend and I ended up here after our top choice was not available. We paid 60,000 for a double room with on suite bathroom. The room was basic and there were no blankets/sheets on the bed. Hot water worked,  but toilet was broken. Staffs English is very limited, and I found that the owner rude and non- attentive. We returned from dinner one night to discover no internet. It is true the place doesn't try to be something it is not (I want expecting 4 star service) but there are much better options on the island.

Basic and unfriendly 

The room was clean, but far from bug proof due to gaps under and around the doors and the security of a slide latch and a small pad lock were less than ideal. The bathroom was clean, but the toilet seat was broken. The room was very basic as all rooms have fan only and there is no air-conditioning option, the beds were comfortable with a thin half sized quilt cover, that let the mosquitoes feed on your top half. The sunset from the shared veranda across all 5 rooms was stunning. For 70,000 kip (less than $10US) you could hardly complain, but make sure you have plenty of Deet based mosquito repellent. The owner is friendly and helpful, but the staff have limited English but enough to let you get by. The breakfast was okay, but we can not say we found the food great and we ended up eating at other places, but sadly none of them were any better. Baguettes on Don Det are small shriveled versions of the glorious Baguettes available in Vietnam and Cambodia. The Kayaking with Mr Mo and the full day bicycle hire will completely fill two days, so plan to stay for a couple of full days.

Quiet and peaceful place

Stayed there for two nights.. Bungalow is pretty basic, two beds, simple but working shower, cracked toilet set and fantastic sunset view out to the Mekong.

It's very simple, nothing special at all and for 80.000 KIP overpriced for sure - but we were kinda lazy due to the heat and stopped our search.

There is a huge fan, unfortunately even on level 1 the fan is a bit too loud and fast, my sleep was therefor pretty average. Sheets are as clean as u can expect it for this place.
Unfortunately, no mosquitos net, not enough (and not broken) chairs on the balcony, no hammock - just the view.
You could get a lot out of this place if you would be a motivated owner, but.. 

My recommendation, look a bit further even if you sweat your a* off, it is worth as we saw a couple of nice bungalows on either side of the island.


Ok stay in high season

This bungalow is fairly new as the lower level is still not finished.  Given that is is new it is fairly clean.   Also, it has a front balcony with a door and window and a back door so the evening breeze will flow through.  The window has no bars and their is no mosquito net so you are sleeping in an enclosed room with a fan with no other ventilation.  The room has no furniture, not even a shelf or a hook to hang anything.  The sink drains to the floor so as you brush your teeth the water runs onto your toes.
 Duvets were supplied, but they had no covers so it would be a better idea to have a top sheet.  We always travel  with a sarong so used that and put the duvet on the floor.  

My comments are not exclusive to this bungalow - I'm certain we would have experienced the same issues if we had stayed in any of the bungalows on the riverfront. We paid only 50,000 KIP a night to stay here. 

The location is perfect offering wonderful views over the river with a terrace.  The  staff were beyond helpful & friendly, the food was the cheapest I have experienced anywhere in Asia and was also fantastic!

As normal the wifi was intermittent.  The experience of this new bungalow could be ramped up with more chairs  and a few plants on the terrace.  Bars on the windows or other security would enable you to keep windows open at night.  Mosquito nets would enable one to open windows. would also make the room more comfortable..

Just a few inexpensive additions, maintenance and more cleanliness would make such a difference.
