Banana Bungalow

So we stayed here for 2 nights in vang vieng. We had to walk through the main backpacker area and cross a rickety bamboo bridge over the river to get to it. There are some small restraunts lining the rivers edge which seemed to be mostly occupied by locals. Behind these you can see a row of raised bungalows. We walked up to the reception area and was greeted by a guy who confirmed our booking.  At first he was going to take us to a bungalow facing the river but we knew there were more behind and asked if we could stay at the back. Mainly because we had already seen photographs of the views there and with the noise on the front we would prefer to be at the back. The gentlemen walked us round the back and through gardens leading us to our bungalow. The view at the back is spectacular with the mountain in the background. The bungalow its self had 2 single beds inside which was perfect for myself and my friend travelling together. The beds were comfy and the room had a fan, air conditioning and a fridge, however, it wasn't possible to get the fridge cold as when we took the keycard out from the power switch/meter the electricity turned off. Hijacking this with a bank card did not seem to work unfortunately. The toilet had a shower like a wet room but the hot water did not work. It wasn't an issue as with the hot weather a cold shower was welcome. There was no fly nets over the beds but we did not see any mosquitoes in the room. I guess they're not fond of air conditioning. Overall, it was a good place to stay. The toilet/shower room could have been slightly better maintained but it served its purpose. For somewhere quiet, close to the main strip and with great view this place is definately a contender. Check it out.
