Loft Rooms Petra - Hostel

We stayed there for two nights, on first night we woke up at 5.00am by the call from the two mosques that are nearby the HHP but that was part of the experience and didn’t bother us much. We were leaving for visiting Petra early in the morning and said  made us a delicious breakfast with lots of choice for 6am and even offered us a snack for later from it. The next morning she set up the breakfast in their beautiful restaurant. Such a pleasant stay with a lovely people and a very relaxed atmosphere.

There was a mistake in iur booking but the hotel manager was very helpfull.

We (three friends) had a triple room, which featured kitchen, bathroom, ac, tv, and three comfy beds. 

The hotel is currently under construction. It was quite cold there when we visited petra in middle of march (might be an advantage in summer). 

Breakfast is quite good. Manager is very willing to help. Maybe a bit desperate also. But a very nice guy. 

Hotel is very close to petra main entrance.

Tip for your stay: do not worry about the cleanliness and comfort of your accommodation too much. Make sure it is close to petra. Get up early and be at the entrance once it opens and go to the holy place of sacrifice immediatly to get the best experience of it. It can be awefully crowded later during the day. Bedouins trying to sell you junk are also not up that early or at least not that many.

Small and modest place compared to the other big posh places near the Petra-gate. We had trouble finding it, you have to enter via the parking lot of Candles Hotel. (Would have helped it there was a sign on the wall.) Then it turned out our booking (by email) went wrong so it seems best to book by booking.com which we usually do. But we got a room anyway...and from then on it went excellent. The host Mahmoud is really friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The room is great: very spacey with kitchenette, big breakfast table and excellent bed. Enough living room for our active 1-year-old! Breakfast is served in your room at any time you like (probably early to have a good start at Petra). Only thing is, there's a mosque just opposite the hotel and obviously this makes some noise early in the morning. But somehow the prayer calls in Jordan are really short and efficient, so it didn't bother us. All by all a truly enjoyable place if you want to avoid the big hotels. And a really big plus is that the hotel is very near the Petra-gate, only a 10-minute walk!!!

Petra home hotel

Nice, friendly place

The hotel is a 5min walk from the Petra entrance and in the other direction from the restaurants. It is a 5 min drive from the bus station. The owner picked us up from there. It features big rooms with kitchenette and big bathroom. There is also AC and TV Available, as well as a fridge (ours was not working). The hotel features internet, but it's extra. The restaurants in the centre have free wifi.
The hotel is next to a minaret. Expect the 5am heart attack every morning. It is very very loud.
The beds are quite comfortable, but our linens were not clean and slept in. We asked for new ones and we were given 2 sets, a freshly washed one and another used one. Towels are available, but also not clean. Toiletries are available, but I'd pass those one too (they seemed old)
The room has a breakfast plan, which is brought to your room. It's not the richest, but quite decent. There's tea, instant coffee, jam, spread, baloney, yogurt, sesame seasoning, olive oil, bread.
The owner is very helpful.
But due to the lack of cleanliness I would not go back.
