This camp is situated in a beautiful part of Wadi Musa, far away from the villages. We stayed in a tent, and it was fully equipped with everything you needed. Good airconditioning too! We had a delicious dinner prepared by the very friendly staff. They are expanding now with even more tents. Very good place to stay when you want to visit Petra and surroundings! 

Great camp!

We had a good stay here. The accommodations are good. It rained really hard and our tent leaked so keep everything up. Also in the middle of the night the dogs were fiercely fighting! All in all it was fine. It's a little bit further than I'd like to stay. 20 minutes from Petra.

Good stay

The camp is set in a wonderful scenary. The tents are nice, clean and so are all the common spaces. Breakfast did not offer a big variety of choices, but it covers te basic ones. 
Tent are heated by a/c but during the night, the generator did not work or it kept stopping so the a/c was hot of great help. I would advice the owner to review the system and try to solve this issue.

Nice scenary, nice tents, poor electricity

Magical place with multiple room options, had several tents with a private bathroom, very comfortable with all we needed. The chef cooked a great dinner for us, delicious and authentic. Wonderful people complement a great place.

We have chosen this place  because it was featured as a unique place to watch the stars at night in a secluded place away from the city in the unique site of Petra. This 1-night stay was a nightmare in a every aspects.

I have booked a bubble tent and requested a quiet area. I was giving the one right at the entrance in front of restaurant and reception. I could hear ppl walking to restaurant and the echo in the restaurant (also a bubble). The whole place is freezing cold. Impossible to heat. The hot air stays just under the reversible AC device and does not spread throughout the room. Impossible to get sleep in this setting. Personnel items are cold, getting dressed into freezing cloth in the morning. Electricity cut every 5 minutes with the generator making a sort of "explosion" noise, then the AC/heat device beeping when electricity on again, every 5 minutes! No way to let reception know unless, get out of bed, and get out of tent to find reception. They could not do much as full capacity. 

The whole point of booking that bubble is to see the stars and surroundings. Impossible. The roof is covered with tent, no windows. Only windows are on the lateral sides (view on on the restaurant and other tents) and are full of frost. Plus light from outside enters through the door the whole night (opac door). 

Restaurant room was freezing, impossible to eat breakfast in it. Had to eat at reception where some heat seemed to work a little.

Paid the equivalent of USD 250.- for a freezing, noisy, sleepless night. Such a scam and disappointment.

Please beware before booking and find yourself a different accommodation (4-5 star hotels in Little Petra for the same price in proper heated building).

Sleepless night

Petra Rock Camp is a great option for staying in a peaceful, quiet area approximately 15-20 minutes from Petra main gate.

The scenery at the camp and en-route to Petra is truly stunning.  The Rock Camp benefits from a really nice pool and excellent food.

Breakfast is from 6am which, (if your brave enough), you can get up early and be at Petra circa 7am ans get the place to yourself for an hour or so - a really good option. 

After 5-6 hours in Petra you can get back to the camp and spend a few hours resting your feet at the excellent pool.

Dinner is a buffet and the quality of the food is excellent.  As a vegetarian I was spoilt for choice.  Good options for regular dietary needs too.

Loved my stay.  Rooms have air-con and TVs for the usual comforts.  All in all a good solid experience. 

Quality Camping

I stayed here with my friend for 2 nights when we visited Petra. 
I have to say even is a bit far from Petra we had a really nice time. We had a car so it was easier but you can catch a taxi if needed.

I have to say.. the staff was super nice and friendly especially the guy at reception he really looked after us! 
The food at dinner was really local and good... Jordan was absolutely a blast but all the places we stayed topped everything up!

While it is not the most luxurious camp on offer, I would recommend it 100 times over. The en-suit tents are spacious, the bathrooms neat and clean. The entire site is located in the dessert, away from the town lights with steep red rocks towering over it. The sunset was lovely. However, the point of this review is to elaborate on the food. I was travelling with a small slovenian group, we stayed there for two nights; the first traditional dinner was centerd around charcoal, underground baked meat and vegetables, but there were so many vegetarian and vegan dishes on offer. Lentil soup, freshly baked bread, tabbouleh, hummus, baba ganoush, best mujadara i ever tasted. And the breakfast!! We left at 5.30 am to head to Petra and at 5 freshly baked bread (filled with spianch/zaatar/potato, classic arab bread and zaatar flatbread) awaited. Still warm from the oven. Of course we stocked uo and took some with us. The second dinner was no leas inpressive; with a slight variety in salads falafels awaited, great pea stew, grilled shis kebabs for the meat lovers. Hands down best food we have eaten in Jordan.

i arrived late at breakfast.  got admonished and shouted at.... did not have a change to tell about the dog that barked half of the night and kept us awake... beer was like $6 a piece but not cold.  it was ok to see this place once but would never go back again.  also, i need to mention there were some pretty naughty cats that kept bothering us while dining, sometimes stealing food.

The Rock Camp Bedouin camp in Petra was excellent. My husband and I were there in July 2013.  If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is not your place.  You go to Rock camp to enjoy the Bedouin culture.  The desert at night is very cold, but you sleep in a  nice wool tent to keep you warm. Amazingly enough after such a cold night, it is very hot the next morning. The tents are great there is a bed, warm wool blankets and comfortable pillows. Ishmael and Mohammed were great hosts.  Food was delicious and the hookah around the fire pit was great to spend the beautiful nights in the desert.  It was a great experience.  The camp schedules a taxi for you to take you to the Ancient City of Petra.
