Stayed here for one night on my way down from Tokyo to Osaka. Two of the women who work here have very good English so if you can't speak Japanese it's no issue. They also have a printout of info in English that they give you. The place is very private - it's far more traditional than the larger ryokan style accomodation that are bigger and busier. I got both the dinner and breakfast and they were both delicious. If you're uncomfortable with not knowing what your eating and want choice, stay at a bigger Ryokan which actually caters to westerners. Whilst I was there I saw nobody else when I used the baths. The private baths have such a great view although I got bitten by a lot of mozzies :(.
Location wise there's a bus you can take but I had a big suitcase so I got a taxi there and back (they rang a taxi for me when I left). It was a great experience and I'd love to go back again in the future. The service is friendly, scenery is peaceful, food was great and baths were relaxing. The rooms are all relatively big so you're not cramped and have space to walk around.

Amazing Experienc

This was a lovely traditional ryokan. The water was fantastic. The food stunning. A friend who was with us has caused me to locate the details and I just feel such a longing to be back there, in the peace, order, and beauty of the inn.

Looking back with longing

We stayed for one night in order to experience a ryokan.
The hostess was extremely kind and polite. We felt very welcome and it was more like coming to someones home. 
It is a little musty but tolerable. 
The meals were very nicely done and well presented. It is requested that you contact them ahead of time to verify if you want to include dinner which is a separate charge. 
There are no restaurants or shops in the area as it is on a hillside in a small neighborhood. 
No wifi in the rooms but there is a common area where you can hook up for free. 
The hot baths were wonderful. They have two outdoor baths that you can use. 
We missed the fireflys but it was spider season. Large spiders with interesting webs. They are beautiful too.
Taxi costs more than the bus which comes from the station to a stop at the corner and a little walk up the hill.
It is an expensive stay but it was well worth the visit.

Peaceful Setting

I stayed at Kamata for one night right after Christmas 2016. The room is decent and spacious. The hostess is extremely courteous and made me feel at home. There are 2 private open-air onsen baths with great view. 

Excellent Ryokan

We stayed here two nights in a Japanese room. It was musty at first and my allergies kicked in but turning on the air conditioning dryed out the room. We went with the breakfast plan to save some money. I really liked the ambiance of the foyer and hallway outside our room. But we were here for the hot water. The two outdoor private baths were excellent. The mens and womens baths rotated so we were able to get into both of those baths. There was a wooden tub in our room also. There were only a couple of other guests here so we were able to use the baths whenever and as often as we wanted. The hotel is at the end of the bus ride from the train station and a short private walk uphill. It is a very quiet location. The hotel was excited to show us the lightning bugs but since we have them in our yard all the time we declined the offer from the owner for a guided tour of the garden to see the bugs. We walked from here to Fudo Falls. It was an easy walk but be careful there are no sidewalks for half of it.
