Yado Matsui was pretty cute; seems to be the upstairs of an older woman's house. My boyfriend and i can't speak Japanese but our stay was still enjoyable. Bathrooms are downstairs and sleeping rooms upstairs. House is kind of cold in winter but bathroom is warm, rooms have gas heaters, and beds have electric blankets...cozy. I don't know if it's the 'real ryokan' experience but it was nice enough.
