Oyado Uchiyama

Had a surprisingly pleasant experience at this ryokan. The room is two-stories, and ours was setup with both an indoor and outdoor bath. Because it's essentially situated at the base of Mt. Omura, you get a great view of the water from the second floor. The food was also a surprise hit. Nothing particularly fancy, but everything was very well executed. The staff was especially friendly. We were assigned English speaking Kotomi-san, who not only ensured we were comfortable, but also made sure to provide us with itinerary suggestions based on our trip and what we like. At the end of the stay, they were not able to find us a taxi back to the station, so one of the staff offered to drive us down in her personal car - Very kind of them! Highly recommended if you plan on a trip out to the Izu peninsula.
