What a luxury experience. From the moment we arrived, we were treated impeccably and made to feel very welcome. The freshly made matcha tea in the welcome room as we checked in came with an amazing view of Mount Fuji, then our maid took us to our “room”. 

When we booked the room, we didn’t realise it was the size of an apartment! A large hallway, 2 bedrooms, a dining room, a sofa area, bathroom - so much space! 

We were shown how to put on a yukata and there were instructions on how to use the onsen in the information pack in the room. My daughter only wanted to use the onsen if the private one was available and we were lucky to find it free at the first time of trying. Such a great experience, and my husband really enjoyed the public men’s one too. 

The gardens here are beautiful and we were lucky enough to see Mount Fuji both days, and got some wonderful photos of us in our yukatas amongst the scenery. 

The food we had here was exquisite - we were given a printed menu of all 11 courses at dinner so we knew what we were eating. It was quite a long time sitting on the floor but we just got up between courses to stretch our legs. We were very excited to eat blowfish and anglerfish. 

Breakfast was also very good. We loved how the children tried everything too - lots of new flavours! Check out was easy and they drove us to the local bus station in the morning, to go back to Odawara. 

We did the Hakone Loop on the day we arrived - ending with the pirate ship - make sure you check the timetable as we didn’t realise how early that was and had to rush at the end of the afternoon!

A luxury experience - well worth it - an experience our family will never forget

Absolutely magical! Once in a lifetime experience and the highlight of our Japan trip! The ryokan is beautiful and we made use of all the private and public onsens ( the one that came with our room category was a special treat!)  I have always used my hotel as a “drop my stuff and go” place. This is where you come and stay and like they half joking told us “onsen before dinner, after dinner, and before and after breakfast”. The dinner is served elaborately in beautiful Japanese dishes. Very yummy sparkling sake too! I was hesitant to sleep on the floor due to neck and headache issues but surprisingly it was very comfortable and I slept great ( the air conditioning was amazing too). They have Yucatas to wear around the resort as well as pajamas and the nicest gentlemen by the shoes offered to take my daughter and my photo in the breathtaking garden. They have a service the next day where they take your luggage and send it to the train station in a secure location and they drop you off at the shrine and tori gate lake where you can board the pirate ship and cross over to ride the cable car. Me and my adult children will cherish the memory of our time spent here. highly recommend this ryokan!

Magical experience in Japan

Delightful experience.
Wonderful staff, relaxing stay, made full use of our private onsen and beautiful public  indoor and outside onsen. A good stay and interesting journey via Shinkansen, local train and mountain bus completed the experience. All meals served in our room.

Relaxing Ryoken experience

My wife and I spent two nights here and everything about it was perfect. Stayed in room 108 and the private onsen in the room was incredible. There were also shared and a reservable onsen on the property, all of which were lovely. All of the food was exceptional and plentiful. Staying for two nights was perfect as this allowed us to complete the Hakone loop on day #2, then come back to the ryokan to relax and enjoy another wonderful kaiseke dinner. 

The bus from Odawara station conveniently drops you off within a 5 min walk of the property. 

This was definitely one of the highlights of our 2 week trip in Japan.

Incredible experience

I stayed for one night at Yoshimatsu and absolutely loved my time at this beautiful ryokan. The traditional Japanese room was lovely, both the private and communal onsens were great, and the staff and food were exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with such warmth and hospitality and the traditional kaiseki meal I was served was stunning and delicious. If you are looking for a ryokan experience in Hakone, I highly recommend Yoshimatsu!

Perfect stay at this lovely ryokan

Never in all of our travels have I ever experienced such kind and attentive service. In addition the surrounds and quality of food (Kaiseki) are exceptional. Every plate is a work of art, The cherry on top are the amazing views of Mt Fuji. If you are looking for a smaller more personal hotel in Hakone this place has it all. An unforgettable stay!

Unforgettable stay in Hakone

We spent two nights in Hakone, first in the Hyatt regency and the second night at this traditional hotel. We opted for a room with private onsen, which was pricey but definitely worth it for us given the privacy it offers. The experience was lovely - we were greeted with tea and sweets in a lovely sitting room, then taken to our room which consisted of a dining room, living room and bedroom. We were given the traditional clothes to wear in our room. After some time of enjoying our onsen, a lovely lady prepared the dinner setup in our private dining room and served a traditional dinner through a good 2 hours or so. Food was very good quality although there were some courses that were not really to our (of course very western!) taste but that was to be expected. Overall a lovely experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to experience this type of stay in a luxurious traditional Japanese setting.

Luxurious traditional Japanese experience 

We have just returned from a couple of weeks in Japan and the highlight was a couple of nights in this wonderful Ryokan. If you want to, and are prepared to, immerse yourself in the Japanese culture this is most definitely for you.  From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you will receive wonderful service and food. The location is fantastic and just a short walk from a number of activities such as the boat ride around lake Ashi and the transport links.

The Ryokan does have Onsens that guests can share but to be honest we only used our private Onsen (hot tub) that was part of our room and was very welcome after a day of walking.

I cannot recommend this Ryokan enough.

What an excellent place to stay

What a special place! We loved it so much, an oasis in so many ways. Calm and beautiful setting just what was needed. Onsen was fantastic, the staff are really amazing and nothing is too much to ask. The food has been absolutely delicious!

Perfect 

The people at this traditional Japanese inn are so lovely, friendly,welcoming and happy.They all came out to say goodbye when we left for the day and welcomed us back on our return.How refreshing!The surroundings are truly relaxing and peaceful..The food was nourishing and healthy and made a nice change from Western food.It was beautifully served by our dedicated member of staff.The inn is ideally placed for access to the whole area and we used public transport which was exciting and enjoyable.They have private and public onsets (hot spring baths).
