We stated 2 nights at this onsen hotel. considering  the price the room was acceptable however very dirty and old in a very unpleasant way. However the worst part was the hotel owner. Continuesly muttering, seende to be angry and upset. When we asked questions he simply ordered us what to do never listened. I felt very uncomfortable and almost thretened. He made reservations at a restaurant for us as we planned to celebrate birthday and our last night in Japan. The owner came and ordered us to come 1h early - otherwise we would not get any food beacause everything else was closed. We ha a special evening planned which was destroyed and there were other restaurants opened. Overall a VERY unpleasant stay.

Horrible stay with a confused angry hotell owner- Fawlty towers

Spent two nights enjoying this small onsen hotel. Owners spoke good English and were very obliging. The onsen is situated off the main road up quite a steep slope. If you have suitcases, a taxi is recommended from the bus stop- but only a 2 minute ride. Only a small township with a limited number of eating places. Host drove us to a local outdoor museum which was fascinating. He also drove us to Odawara station (30 mins) when we departed. Private onsens (2) can be booked. No other guests were there so we enjoyed soaking in them at our leisure.
Good place to just unwind after the bustle of the big cities. Highly recommend.

Hidden Gem

We only stayed there for one night but the experience was amazing. The hosts treat you like family and truly care about the costumers. The host even offered to drive us to the train station! The room was huge and clean and we had the onsen to ourselves. It does look a bit dated but I think that makes it even more charming and authentic. We chose this onsen because it was the cheapest and we wanted to experience it, and it was a great choice. Totally recommend!

Great ryokan

Easily our favorite and most relaxing stop during our 2 week to Japan. The couple that own and run the place couldn’t be any sweeter or eager to please. The building is a little older but in a charming way. The tubs are hot, private and magical. The location offers close access to the rails, food and a supply of hidden alleys, trails and shrines. The Onsen has been in the family’s ownership since 1911 and Jim the owner was born and grew up here so he really takes pride in his home, town and your experience as a guest. Can’t wait to visit these wonderful people during our next trip to Japan!

Wonderful

Lovely local ryokan. There are two amazing indoor onsens that you can use privately. 
Very nice and welcoming hosts that explained to us of a better way to walk to the hotel (there is a shortcut that googlemaps doesn't show you).
Nice Ryokan experience, hosts provided us with hot water for tea in the evening and morning.

On the downside- the place is a bit old, so don't expect anything fancy. The air condition is hard to operate since its all in Japanese, but you can ask the host any question you have about it.

Jin-Jin is a great hostess, very nice and friendly. The rooms are designed in a Japanese style and are very big. There are clean and beautiful private onsens, very pastoral. Great place in Hakone, if we'll come back it will be there!

great experiance!

We visited the onsen here - semi-outdoors. The couple who run it were very friendly and helpful. The onsen itself was a private one so myself and OH could bathe together. It's a little basic but lovely.
