This was our favorite place during our trip in Europe. In this place you feel like home because the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Everything is 5 star: the location, the view, the staff, the service and the food!! One of our favorite thing was the food because the fish and seafood taste amazing since they’re from the Mediterranean Sea. If you’re an outdoor person, this is the place to feel in paradise. You can do all kind of sports (snorkeling, kayak, paddle board). I can’t wait to go back. Thanks to Claudia and Dario for making us feel so special.

Beautiful view and cuisine

My husband and I stayed at Il Faro for three nights in July on our way from Florence to Sorrento and we loved everything about it.
We had a standard room which was large and airy with a lawned garden leading out to the rocky steps down to the sea. There was very little between out room and the sea below. 

When we booked the hotl Dario joked that we could dive into the sea from the car park and he is right.
The hotel has a chic laid back approach and is staffed by Dario's 'Crew' who went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed for a fabulous stay.

There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas on the rocks leading down to the sea with the most beautiful views towards the island of Ponza.

There is a lovely bar facing out to sea which is staffed by the delightful Francessca who was so cheerful and sweet she was a pleasure to see each day.

The restaurant is a destination for other people in the area and was usually very busy. The atmosphere is romantic with Moroccan lamps and African lanterns. It is open to the sea and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks was wonderful. The food was outstanding with a great choice of sea food. When reserving our table for dinner the staff always ensured we had a table right by the sea no matter how busy the restaurant was.

On our last night we decided to go to the beautiful hilltop town of San Felice for dinner and asked the reception staff to get us a taxi at a set time.

We were surprised to see that the restaurant manager was waiting to take us with recommendations on where to eat and the hotel owner (Dario) came to collect us when we were ready. Apparently the nearest taxi is 30 Kilometres away and instead of saying that they cheerfully decided to take us.

This hotel is a perfect little retreat and we will definitely be returning.

Wonderful retreat with stunning views

Do not be put off by the weather, we stayed at Il Faro in one of the fabulous new rooms with windows on two sides during a stormy sea and rain. It was wonderful, being so close to the sea in all it's glory.  If the weather is bad - book this room!  You'll love it.

Stunning new rooms

My wife and I have spent a week in Il Faro in August 2011. Absolutely great stay thanks to Dario and his team.  Il Faro is located 1 – 1.5 hour drive from Rome on a hill in a natural resort area.  It has private access to the sea (basically, terraces on the hill slope with sunbeds and stairs to the sea) and is 10 minute drive from lengthy San Felice and Sabaudia sand beaches.  We have been there in the peak season and beaches were quite busy, but can’t say they were overcrowded.  Almost all of the guests in the hotel are Italians, very nice and civilized public mostly in their 30’s to 50’s. Restaurant serves excellent sea food and some traditional Italian cuisine (pizza’s etc) for lunch and dinner and is almost always full.
Best things about the hotel are very Italian ambience, great location, unobstructed sea views virtually from everywhere, great food and great hospitality of the hotel team.  Can’t think of many downsides -  maybe rooms are a bit basic and hotel charges a fee for using sunbeds and umbrellas, though these are minor and in any case didn’t spoil our vacation.  
All in all believe this is a great option for a sea-side vacation in Italy and quite possible we will come back next summer.

Fabulous views and great hospitality

I was not expecting to find such a beautiful place in such a remote spot in Italy. 
This hotel is as hip and glamorous as any of the renamed "currently in" New York hotels. This maybe the influence of hotel's management that brings to the table a cool breeze of surf, sand and sun that we all heavy travelers look forward to when trying to disconnect from everyday's life and escape to paradise. 
The food is excellent. The fresh fish was a permanent temptation and i struggled with my choosing everyday as i wanted to try it all!
The ocean unbeatable in beauty. And the views...well, if you are planning a honeymoon or a romantic escapade, this is the place to go....I can tell :)
