I really feel like I should keep this place to myself.  Our family went in August during the 2 weeks the resort offers an all inclusive package.  If you want authentic Italian vacation this is your place.  We met no one but Italians and there is very little english spoken.  If you are not adventurous this is not your spot.  If you love beautiful views, good Italian food and relaxing atmosphere this is your place.   It is not a glamorous room but it is simple, clean and situated in a lovely spot overlooking the sea.  The owner who is an architect from Rome is lovely and the staff are attentive.  If you are able to get the inclusive package in Italy the resort is all yours after 7:00pm.  The little trail leading to the dining area is like being in a movie.  My 7 and 10 year old thought it was as magical as my husband and I.  The dining area is under olive trees lit with white twinkling lights.  There are 3 courses (with 2 choices each course). Because our Italian is limited we just selected two of each option know we could switch with kids if it was too out there.  There was gorgeous fish (head and all), pasta, and delicious desserts.  The dining area over looks the sea and setting sun.  We felt spoiled!  Again, this is the real deal...no spa, nothing fancy...but in its simplicity and authenticity it feels fancy and glamorous...but for those who are low-maintenance and low-key you will find this to be a vacation of a life time!   I hesitate even telling you about this place because it was so perfect without too many outsiders.

The Foresteria Illicini is a smoll place in Maratea, were you can have an amazing, fascinating and intimate bad and breakfast and surroundings. Situated on the coast of Maratea, very close to the sea wich have a blue turquoise color, Foresteria Illicini offer everything for feel good. With a small beach, with a private pool hidden in a private park, with spacious and comfortable rooms modern furnished, good positionated (you can hear the sound of the sea from your bed), with willing and very kind staff,  made me feel excellent. Only one negative side for me: they don't have internet. Only one qualification I can give them: excellent

Amasing resort on Maratea

We have been often in Illicini -because it's  the best place to come down. 
Quite and nice house / flats in wonderful surroundings > you open the windows and you can see mediterranean green or the light blue ocean.
People are friendly, everything is clean and modern.
Maratea is a "hotspot" of better situated italiens.

With a little pebbly beach in a secluded cove, a massive, warm pool and beautiful green surroundings, this was really the perfect place for us. It's quite simple, which is reflected in the price, but isn't without some nice little luxuries. Rooms have lovely little sea-view terraces (which you do have to share with a lot of mosquitos), and the bathrooms have bath tubs, which is not all that common in the south of Italy. The welcome was very warm and we felt very well looked after there. Breakfast was very simple and we stayed out of season so the restaurant was shut, but we found nice options in Maratea port and in the old town itself (although the latter is very pricey). I could have stayed in the pool for hours, where you can see the sea on one side and the mountains on the other, and feel you could be the only person for miles - total bliss.

Amazing little place - so peaceful and otherworldly

This is our second visit and we love coming to this rustic location - the welcome and help/attention you receive is excellent and the location overlooking the sea is just perfect.  The Mosquitos and wasps can be a bit of a nuisance so make sure you bring the necessary repellent but perfect if you want a real rest.
