Last minute we found this gem. Maeve and John were kind and able to recommend the best hike, beach ,pub and seafood.  Clean rooms, very nice breakfast and warm personalities.
Walking distance to pubs and shops.

Macliam in Clonakilty, Yes!

We are so happy that we were referred to MacLiam Lodge! Conveniently located and Maeve and John were wonderful hosts, who ensured our stay was excellent. Our room was comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was delicious. We only wish we had more time to visit the local places of interest in the area. Would love to return someday and enjoy more of the warm hospitality that was extended to us!

Wonderful Hospitality!

Dust so thick it obviously hasn't been cleaned in months. Freezing cold nights, radiator never turned on and knob taken off to stop anyone turning it on. Numerous tiles broken in the bathroom shower area. Damp mould grown in the bathroom ceiling. Checking quilt underneath the cover,numerous stains.
One of the worst kept places I've stayed.
Would also only accept cash???

Dreadful 

We stayed at Macliam’s Lodge for 6 days in July 2022. Maeve and John made us feel like we were family. Very nice, comfortable accommodations. Very clean throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them and highly recommend this B&B.

Felt right at home

The Macliam Lodge was lovely, clean, quiet, a short stroll to downtown shops and eateries. Very close to all things related to Michael Collins, the museum, birthplace and assassination site (which was under construction, so we couldn't stop!)  Great breakfast, good hot shower, good location. Win win win!

What amazing hosts Maeve & John were. So chatty and knowledgeable about the area and Ireland. Made us feel so welcome. Clonakilty is really nice, the Whales Tail gorgeous for dinner. Casey’s bar lovely food and bar. The best breakfast, you had a choice. Perfect poached eggs and Irish breakfast. Rooms were clean and lovely.

Maeve is a wonderful host and this is a tremendous B&B. The room was perfect and the breakfast was a feast to fill me for the day. Walking distance to town and the famous De Barras bar where i saw John Doherty live. I told Maeve that i would like to come back to "Clon" and rent a bike to go to Inchdoney beach. She said i could borrow one. Her husband kindly kept the famous Clonakilty pudding that i bought in their fridge till i checked out. "Clon" is a great town for a few days. I hope to return.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat

Very enjoyable stay in Macliam Lodge, Maeve couldn’t of been more friendly & accomodating. Room was spotless and spacious, breakfast was delicious and plenty of options. Perfect location for visiting clonakilty and its within a short walk to the town. Stayed for 2 nights and each morning the room was cleaned and bed was made which was an unexpected but welcome touch.

Enjoyable Stay

Maeve is a really warm friendly hostess. The bed is comfy, shower is strong, breakfast is hearty (defo try her stewed rhubarb with yoghurt, yum!) and she provided a secure place for all our bikes. It's only a 5 to 10 minute walk into town. She also recommended a great spot for dinner which we all really enjoyed. Would definitely stay here again. 

Great place for a group to stay 

We are doing a road trip in memory of our mum! Maeve was so friendly and went above and beyond as she allowed our wee pet to stay also! The room was spotless and really spacious! Right next to a river! Thanks again - would highly recommend
