It was one of the best Guest Houses I have been to. The lobby is sort of a large living room with sofas and even cooking facilities and a fridge you can use. I think there are actually just 3 rooms. It was very clean and nice decorated. The Bathroom with hot shower was vey good as well. And for once it was also very quiet. At 1500 Rs it cost more than other options, but it is definitely worth the extra money if you have a higher budget.

Just came back from our holiday in tobago. We stayed at Villa Indra which is within walking distance to two of the major beaches and eating places.the villa is very clean and comfortable.  The price is reasonable and the reception was very welcoming.  
I would certainly revist and truly recommend.

If you are looking at a self-contained, almost more Airbnb type experience, then Villa Indra will find you in the heart of Pondicherry in comfortable accommodations on a very reasonable budget. 

The rooms are tastefully decorated, well lit and the main suite at the back comes with an attached bathroom and common living room area which we actually had all to ourselves when we stayed. One very pleasant surprise was the most delightfully all women run charming boutique craft shop / rooftop restaurant next door that served fantastic breads, soups, bean burgers, and european thalis. We loved it so much we went back several times. 

Mouglie was kind enough to open arrange to meet us despite the early morning arrival at 6am from the bus from Kerela and even gave me an orientation tour on his motorcycle so I felt comfortable in the local area. 



Villa Indra is more like a studio apartment - Yes, there is someone during the day to clean the rooms etc and the host, Mouguilane is very helpful (had some good local guidance and help) - but its not a Hotel or a home stay (Mouguilane lives close by, but not in the building). However, the place is Mouguilane's ancestral home and some of the furnishing inside is really good. It is within walking distance of all the major attractions in the old city of pondicherry and its a steal for the price.

Visit to Tobago at Villa Indra

Great value, Post colonial charm tucked away in the French Quarter

Budget stay in the heart of Pondicherry

The place is located around 400kms from the Pondy beach.. We stayed there for 2 nights, 23rd/24th December. There was a clean room, a double bed, a cupboard & a rectangle bathroom -_- . There is a maid, 8am-7pm who will take care of all your requirements  (was very very helpful ) 
Just that, try not to take the ground floor room, closer to the street, cuz then-> Lights&Sounds will be your partner for the major part of the night . 

For the price they offer (1500rs/night, during season -2000rs) it is a good place to crash in after a journey .And yeah, just at the beginning of this street there is a garage to rent motorbikes.
