Guesthouse Brekkusel

The owner is very pleasant, but be warned that there is nobody on site until 4pm each day and then nobody after 8pm, so you have a limited window of time for contact.

The room was very nice, with a little fridge and ample heating. The bathroom got messy but that was the fault of the travellers we shared with rather than the guesthouse.

It is well placed for Akureyri and the town is a short walk away. I would stay here again.

Nicely placed

This place is a short drive from town. Could walk if you wanted to. It was ok for one night. Your pretty standard guesthouse. The kitchen was pretty decent compared to other places in terms of having all the necessary cooking stuff. The biggest issue I had was that the rooms all surround a small living room and are very close to the kitchen. If anyone is out there talking you will hear it. There is a small little hot tub.

Ok for a night

Had a spacious room with double bed+1 single for my kid, private bathroom. Towels qtr not ready in the room upon arrival and a dirty one from previous guest was still hanging in the bathroom.
Used the outside warm pot in a peaceful garden.
Spacious room, 8 seats, number of cutlery and so on should be improved.
Bbq available in the garden.
Check in was quick but with little care.


All right

The room was adequate although I have never seen a bathroom, with shower included, so incredibly small. There was not enough cups or plates in the kitchen for all the guests, nor enough seating for everyone to try and eat breakfast. The one fridge was inadequate. I had to ring when we arrived to check-in and also ring again to find the owner to check-out. There was a darkness blind in the bedroom (for the bright Icelandic nights) and tourist information in the entryway. The location was too bad; close enough to the community swimming pool and a convenience store. A 20-minute walk downhill into mid-town. There were 5 parking places off-street.

Probably will not stay here again.

The kitchen is big enough and has everything you need. The living area is in the middle of all the bedrooms. Bathroom was kind of dirty. Its in the middle of town with a shop across the street and the rest also on walking distance. It was very noisy though but maybe we had bad luck with the other people, watching movies in the middle of the night and going in and out the front door.
