Hotel Aretes – beautiful hotel, located right on the beautiful Aretes Beach. 
Aretes beach – amazing long sandy beach with crystal clear water of the sea.
Apostolos Taverna prepares delicious traditional Greek cuisine.

Amazing

Self-catering studios with kitchen facilities. I paid 70eu for a 4-bed room in mid August, in an area where the typical prices for studios of this kind are around 55-65eu. However, these particular studios are well looked after and combined with a number of advantages that I list below are worth the price. If you do have the extra money, I would totally recommend this place. I did not regret a single euro I paid.

Pros:
-They are literally "on the beach", just walk out of the door and you're there.
-Plenty of shadow and coolness, never used the a/c
-Very good, clean, sandy beach. Walk a bit further down the far end of the beach and it gets even better.
-Rooms are very spacious, much bigger than the average 60eu-priced rooms found in the area
-Manager Georgia is always walking around, cleaning and taking care of visitors' needs. She is a BIG plus for the hotel, she really made us feel at home.
-Good tavern with good prices located at the very same spot, so it's very handy if don't want to prepare your own meals.
-Even at busy times the beach never gets over-crowded.
-Good sporting spot; flat waters and nice breezes every day made it ideal for sailing or canoeing. There are also beautiful tracks round the coast and into to the woods, which are ideal for running or trecking.
-There is enough space for children to play and make friends.

Cons
-The beach-bar at the far end (away from the hotel) is very popular among boat owners. For that reason, the first half of the day may have increased sea traffic towards the beach-bar but not to excessive levels.
-The nearest grocery/butcher/supermarket etc. is ~6km away in the village of Toroni (12km for a round trip). It didn't bother me but it could seem quite a distance to some. However, there is a mobile bakery that comes every morning at around 8.15 so bread is easily found.
-Tap water smells of rust and is non drinkable. This holds for the whole area.

Tips & advice
-Look for "Ethnic" bar, it offers the best sunset views and also the best souvlaki in the area.
-Try the "Spetsofai" in the tavern. Traditional recipe, made excellently!
-Ask for a receipt when you pay. Non-greek tourists may not know this, but if you don't ask for a receipt you won't get one. That means that the taxes you pay (which are approximately a third of the price) go right into the landlord's pocket (which means they are ripping you off).
