I stayed here with my friend for 3 nights! We were not disappointed!!! Clean, right in the centre and they were very friendly! They also helped us with what beaches we should visit as we known nothing of the island!  Highly recommended!

Lovely stay

The location of these apartments is very good.  they are in a quiet residential street, just off a leafy cool square.  The apartment was spatious with a nice big balcony.  the self catering equipment was good.  There is a kiosk in the square and a few minutes walk further on are a butchers, greengrocers mini market and supermarket.  To get to the port and castle you can either walk along the shopping street or walk along the beach front road.  The beach is a few minutes walk from the apartment and the beach front road has lots of bars and restaurants on it.  There are historical sites in the town and a vastly overstaffed museum.  when we went I think we were the only visitors that day and we had a member of staff following us, wiping finger/nose marks off the cabinets after our children moved to the next one - it was hysterical!!

The beach was clean and the water warm and shallow.  There were free umbrellas on the beach.  Two bars had sun beds.  there are lots of play areas scattered through the town and along the beach front.  The walk up to the castle is well worth it for the view.  The resort was a bit run down but they were clearly investing in it quite heavily to get it back to its glory days.

There is a lot of recent history on the island due to its role in the first world war as it was a hospital for Gallipolli.  the harbour at Moudros held the allied fleet and Churchill himself stayed in the island.  There are allied war grave cemetries on the island which are kept absolutely immacculate.

In summary, this is an island where the greeks go for holidays so you won't find swimming pools, beach tat, photos of the food at the restaurants or miles of sunbeds so this makes it a different and appealing holiday to anyone that would like more of a greek getaway.
