The Margarita is an incredible mansion, extremely well-maintained, with beautiful views in the Chora of Kythira. 
We found the service excellent and  the hospitality provided by Frederic outstanding.
We will certainly be back.

An unforgettable stay!

Lovely rooms, splendid views, almost deserted in late October. Spectacular breakfasts on terrace....French owner could be a Parisian pastry chef! Quiet and comfortable, would love to return. Only drawback is limitations of bathroom facilities.

Lovely, scenic spot in Chora

We had a wonderful time! The hotel is located at a great spot right in the middle of "chora" and with seaview. The owners were fantastic and one of them was actually cooking all cakes and pies for the breakfast and had painted all paintings that decorating the hotel's walls. The rooms were amazing as the hotel building is a traditional greek house which was the former house of a famous archeologist. Strongly recommended if you want to stay at "chora"

Perfect hospitality-homemade breakfast

Unfortunately,we saw the hotel online and the photos had nothing to do with the reality.the two rooms we saw were like dungeons with carpets..I can understand that it is the architecture of the building but still not worthy for the value of money!Also, the air-condition was too noisy and the bathroom really tiny!
As for The owner, when we arrived and we saw the first room which was awful he was too tired as he told us to wait for us 5minutes to choose another room that "kindly" offered us and the next morning when we told him that we wished to leave his hotel he overcharged us 25 euros (in total 75) for about14 hours that we stayed by showing us a piece of paper to justify his overcharging!Jesus Christ!!

Worst choice

This was the epitome of traditional Greece. Lots of blue and white. Fantastic sea views from the breakfast terrace. The breakfast was wonderful. Tarte tatin that tasted as thought it had been made by a master chef.
The shower was tiny and a bit of a challenge but everything else more than made up for it.

Lovely traditional hotel in the chora

Margarita hotel is possibly the best choice if you want to live in Chora, Kythera. It is in a quiet neighborhood, just under the main street of the village, a minute away from anything you might need (shopping, food, entertainment). The hotel itself is a renewed 1800's neoclassical building, with 2 great balconies where you can enjoy your coffee and your breakfast. The rooms are not super spacious, but they give you the feeling that you live in a different time period! The lack of TV and internet (although there is a shared PC in the hall) are a great addition to maintain the "feeling" that the building promotes.

I can continue adding positive facts about almost everything but the only "negative" fact that I can think of, is that parking is not allowed in the centre of chora, although you can drop off your bags by the hotel, and then go to the parking (5' on foot).

Overall it was a surprise for us to stay in such a lovely place, in such a great spot, in this perfect island! I recommend this hotel with no doubts to anyone and I most definitely come back!
