Sunset Resort

I've just come back from 10 nights at this beautiful resort. I booked this based purely on its numerous good Trip Advisor reviews and so here is mine... I cannot find one bad thing to say about the resort, I loved every single minute of being there. I've been to many Greek islands but this was my first time to Ios and it was just idyllic. I went there to chill out and relax, not to party, and this resort was perfect for that. We were given free transfers to and from the port, we were picked up even after arriving from the ferry at 1am - the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The resort is about a 15-20 minute walk to / from the port where there are plenty of restaurants and a 5 minute walk to Koumbara beach. If you are fairly fit and happy to walk you'll find it easy enough but the roads are a bit windy and up and down! There is a beautiful traditional greek taverna opposite and there's a beach bar / restaurant on Koumbara beach too. The resort itself is beautiful and clean and the staff are really attentive and friendly. The pool is just lovely and is in really good condition, very clean, no cracked tiles etc. The staff will bring you towels and drinks and make will feel very well looked after! I'm not the sort of person who would book an expensive, luxury hotel, I've 'roughed it' around the Greek islands before, however this place is a 3 star resort yet it feels very luxurious and special. I just love it! In short I would summarise the resort's facilities as: Breakfast - self-service buffet, good selection of breads, pastries, fruit, greek yoghurt, eggs, sausages, tea / coffee / juice etc. Pool bar - does bar snacks, plus drinks and cocktails etc. Pool area - beautiful setting and view, clean, attractive, peaceful Staff - lovely, friendly, welcoming, attentive Rooms - clean, modern, air-con There is free wifi at reception but no where else on the resort, which suited me just fine. There is just one thing I would mention when considering Sunset Resort and that's if you are a bit older and not looking to go to Ios to party but to relax, while the Sunset Resort is perfect for this, across the bay from Koumbara beach there is a (beautiful) sunset beach bar on the hill which plays music from 3pm-12am. This is no bad reflection on Sunset Resort but it can be heard across the bay, particularly if it's windy and the sound carries across. We could hear it from our balcony, however, it wasn't bad at all, and it never once kept me awake. Our balcony had UPVC doors and with those closed and the air-con on you could barely hear it, plus it finished at 12 anyway. I don't want that to be a negative comment about Sunset, just to warn that it can be heard - however it is really not that bad so I wouldn't let it put you off. I did not want to leave Sunset and would LOVE to go back again one day....thank you to all the wonderful staff for such an amazing holiday! X
