Just back after 10 superb days. The location is excellent and the views are stunning - the sun sets straight in front of the apartment. The apartment itself is small, but perfectly formed, consisting of a main living/dining area and a bedroom with a super-king size bed, and en-suite shower (no bath). There is a balcony which is big enough for two chairs and a small table. There is a fridge, 2 ring electric cooker, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, and a wide range of utensils. In the air-conditioned bedroom, their is a hairdryer, but no iron, so you'll need to bring one (they may have one that you can borrow). The room is cleaned and the towels changed every other day. There is no bar or food available on site.

It's a little difficult to find when you first arrive. There is parking available, but it may be a problem if you aren't a confident driver. It's a very steep drop with a sharp bend - OK going in, awkward getting out. There are 2 ways of getting to the town or the beach. It's a 15-20 minute walk back down the road, or 5 minutes via steps down to the beach. However, the steps are steep at the start and end and are rough concrete with sharp edges and there's no hand rail - be very careful (see photos)

Almyrida itself is very quiet. You come here to relax, not party until dawn. It's one main street, parallel to the beach. You can stroll the whole length in about 15 minutes, and that's all there is. The street is lined with snack bars and restaurants catering for all tastes, some good, some better. Expect to pay 8-10 euros for a pair of sunbeds and parasol on the sandy beach. Some of the better restaurants get busy so you may need to pre-book.

The next big town along the coast is Kalyves. There is a huge beach - worth a day out - but I wouldn't want to stay there. It looks a bit, well, run-down. Inland from Almyrida is Plaka - about a 15-20 minute walk, uphill, steep in parts. There are 3 big restaurants, the best and busiest of which is Takis. I would highly recommend giving it a try. On the road to Plaka is the Sunset Bar, my favourite. The dining area is a veranda built into the hillside looking out to sea, and the sun sets directly in front. You get stunning views right across the bay and you can sit and watch the setting sun whilst eating your food. Breathtaking.

Whilst it was perfect for us, if you struggle with mobility, or you are uncomfortable driving, it probably isn't the best place to stay. However, I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone, and if you are going, I'm jealous! We will definitely be back. A big thank you to Eleni for making us welcome.

Simply Stunning

I stayed here for a week. A lovely apartment overlooking  the beach, which is accessible by a flight of steps or a road. The studios and  apartments are peaceful and secluded, being located just above the quiet harbour end of Almyrida.  It is also very convenient location  for the very pretty village of Plaka. A short walk  up the hill. The flats are well decorated, clean and very comfortable. The owners are absolutely delightful and so kind and helpful. They really went out of their way to make  me feel so welcome. They  were the  icing on cake.  I will definitely come back and stay here again.

We spent 10 wonderful days at Ansi Almyrida studio. I had a wonderful vacation, with all the necessary comfort. The room with a sea view, a must have. Quiet, impeccable cleanliness and very kind hosts. A little paradise. Thank you Kiria ELENI! We can't wait to come back!

Amazing studio and apartments all overlooking the beach , there were 75 steps down to the beach or you could walk down the hill but the steps are ok you just need a torch in the evening . Spotlessly clean , lovely decor , so quiet you could hear a pin drop .The bed was so comfy , rainforest shower with plenty of hot water , free aircon , we can’t wait to go back

Perfect in every way

Had an amazing stay at the Anis Apartments , we had a studio , room number 1 . Our hosts Eleni and George greeted us on our arrival with pies and drink . We had arranged a taxi transfer with them . The room was spotless and very tastefully decorated , the view from balcony to die for ! Each room had a seaview.The water was hot the shower was the best I’ve seen , every cooking utensil was there ! The bed and pillows so comfy , towels were good quality . There were steps leading down to the beach around 75 which was our only exercise of the hol ! We will definitely return to these apartments ‘ they should be number 1 in almyrida 

Perfection 

My partner, Juan, and I stayed in a studio apartment in Ansi from September 18th until the 27th and it was absolutely perfect. Eleni is such a lovely, kind lady and gave us a warm welcome and a fond farewell. Our apartment had a stunning view over Souda Bay. It is absolutely silent and heavenly just to read on the balcony or to enjoy breakfast. You fall asleep in the comfiest bed to the sound of the sea lapping the shore outside. We rested so well in Ansi that our bed in Dublin feels lumpy and uncomfortable in comparison. We truly hope to return to this magical place. Like others, I want to give praise where it’s so deserved but, selfishly, I don’t want everyone to know about this gem either 💚

A charming and peaceful place to stay

We had a studio apartment which was quite compact but perfectly fine.Lovely and clean with a great view and nice bathroom. Elena was very helpful, organised taxis to and from the airport, left us water and wine and popped round with fresh Cretan cheese pies and raki, all nice touches.Definitely will be stay again

We stayed here from end of June for ten days, with two young children. Still our no. 1 holiday destination. It is the first place we’ve ever been to where you use extra time to drink your morning coffee just because of the VIEW. The small beach 50 meters away from the flats is cleaner than most tourist beaches. Try swimming in the mourning from 9:30 to 10:30, there was usually no one there then. The couple that own this place are very friendly, which made the whole experience better for us and I noticed how other guests where enjoying it. You feel like a welcome guest rather than a customer. But don’t expect everything to be perfect (although most of the time it was). Just ask for assistance and they are always glad to help. This time we stayed in a one bedroom flat. Great bathhrooms, newly renovated. 

Almyrida is a small and only a semi-touristic place, finely mixed with tourists and locals. I found that prices on restaurants in Almyrida are better than in bigger towns we visited, they hade more gracious rationing and better service minded. In general locals are positive and relaxed; a general atmosphere that the visitors seem to capture. No partying to keep you up in the middle of the night. Easy and cheap buses to Chania, Heraklion or other famous destinations. Everything we needed.

Still our nr. 1 destination

Eleni was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. The studio was spotless and very comfortable as was the bed. Fantastic view over Almyrida and Souda Bay.
