Another great meal at Safari Gardens Hotel and Restaurant!  I've eaten here several times and have never been disappointed.

This night I had the Filet Steak with pepper sauce and chips - absolutely delicious.  My friend always has the noodles and prawns (and she lives here, and is a regular).  I highly recommend dinner here (I've also had breakfast and lunch, so really any meal is a good one).

They've refreshed the bar area with a new covered area, and seating is also available in the garden and by the pool.  Staff are lovely and friendly.

Between the ebola scare and political unrest, the Safari Garden is closed.  Hope that it will open again but for now, it is just a memory.  The wonderful couple who used to manage it (but not own it) have opened a new eco-lodge on The Gambia's south coast (Sandele), and I don't know Francisco's or Lebayto's well enought to personally recommend either, although I have enjoyed dining at both.

Hi i am trying to book a holiday at this hotel, i have written to them a few times but can't get a reply. Can any one tell me how they managed to book it.
Is there anything around there of interest can anyone recommend any restaurants. 
Or does anyone know of another hotel that's quiet.

We visited Safari Gardens last October (only just found time to write a review) before the tourist season had started. Building work was taking place to refresh some of the rooms and build a new bar area by the pool. This work was reportedly finished by the start of the season. At the time of our visit the pool was open but hadn't been cleaned for some time so we were unable to use it, which was a shame given the heat/humidity at that time of year. Our room was functional but it was not the cleanest I have ever been in. Staff were friendly and provided what we needed. Breakfast was simple but sufficient, boiled eggs, bread, coffee/tea. Our out of season rate was a little on the high side for the standard of accommodation. It is possible to find equivalent standard hotels at a much lower price. However, we decided to give Safari Gardens a try because I had read recommendations from VSO volunteers and other NGO staff. Unfortunately, we could not agree with their views and could see no reason for us to return.

OK, but not for us.

We had booked in for 11 nights but could only manage 3 due to only having about 1/2 of running water in the 3 days we were there so don't expect to be able to have a wash in the morning or flush the toilet. We have had lots of excuses now they tell us there is a leak!!! The covers on the lounges are really dirty there seems to be a lot of staff who are very friendly but as a lot of countries they are not self motivated & just stand around talking. The food was very good. Value for money after asking around its expensive. Was really hoping this was going to be somewhere special to celebrate my 60th. No. chance.
