Bed bugs in my bed didn’t let me sleep for two nights. When I talked to the front desk, the staff only said « We are sorry ». They were all nice, the hostel would have been probably a good experience if there were not bed bugs, but « We are sorry » is not enough to solve the issue of the bed bugs and all the complications this gives to the travelers. Therefore I did not find them serious enough to deal with real problems nor to treat their customers as they deserve when such situations occur. And of course, I had to pay the full amount of my stay, with bed bugs or not, it does not make any difference to them. Such a pity that a potentially good place lost all the positive points when it was confronted to the trouble. Bed bugs can happen everywhere, but reaction to it shows who is genuine and serious in hospitality. I am not writing you this to do harm to your business but to warn other people like me to take care of themselves when you didn’t manage to do it. Wish you all the luck in your fight with the bed bugs.

Bed bugs

Good place to stay, nice and interesting  vibes. Felt comfortable meeting other people, and saw lots of socializing going on. Unfortunately I slept in a room next to the courtyard so I didnt get much sleep. The beds are not the most comfortable, and the rooms feel depressing and slapped together with some bunks and matresses.

Kitchen was really nice, staff really nice too, bar really nice, courtyard lounge area really nice. Location is good, close to a major metro line and grocery stores nearby. Clean bathrooms and showers.

Would sstay again if I knew I would be in a more isolated area.

we only stayed for one night. It is clean, free breakfast was good. Nice and sweet service at the front desk. 

Cons: our room is located right next to a bar which was playing loud music till late night. Otherwise comfortable beds, clean bathrooms.

I stayed here for 2 nights in July of 2020 right after their reopening following the end of lockdown in France

Pros:
 - Staff are very helpful and friendly

- I stayed in a mixed dorm, which i found to be really nice and comfortable. There is a fan to help with heat and an under bed locker, light and plugsocket for each bed 

Cons:
- Breakfast isn't free (3 euros), they claimed they needed to "plan the meals", which i found to be a little strange, i've worked in several hostels before and never have i seen this before. 

- The men's toilets really had a bad smell as did the kitchen

- Maybe i came at the wrong time, after all it was just a few weeks after lockdown had lifted in france but i felt a complete lack of atmosphere in the hostel, no one was talking to each other, in my dorm no wanted to interact or hang out which is ok but after the reviews online raving about the atmosphere here, i felt dissapointed.

- Last point, the check in is at 3pm, which is incredibly late....i arrived at 8am because of my bus and had to wait around for 7 hours before i could check in.

I just want to say this is a decent hostel with great staff who seemed to enjoy working there, i just feel after the reviews i read online a little dissapointed by what i saw, maybe i just came at the wrong time, right after the end of lockdown, but i can only comment on what i saw and experienced myself.

A little Disappointed

I've traveled a lot, worked long-term for an award-winning hostel in Ireland, and managed two excellent USA hostels, and Le Flaneur is probably the best that I've ever encountered. You can tell that they care about the guest experience above all else. My time managing hostels has taught me what to look for, and these people are doing everything right. Amenities are extensive, the rooms and bathrooms are clean, the atmosphere is great, and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. I stayed here 3 years ago and knew I had to come back. Second time around was just as good as the first.

A Model Hostel

The lounge, bar and kitchen of the hostel were great! great for meeting other travelers, for preparing a meal or just relaxing after a long day. the rooms were very unpersonal but that's no reason to not stay here. get involved in the activities here, one night had Irish folk dancing which was super fun! the area around the hostel can be a little unnerving, especially around the mcdonald's so just be on alert. Also if you have time defiantly visit the cinema and miniatures museum!

Great hostel, beware location

The staff were truly wonderful and seemed to enjoy themselves at work which made for a great ambience. Truly one of the most social hostels I've been to, and the common room was usually full of interesting people to talk to, as well as games and various nerdy artefacts. The kitchen was clean and big, and it was very common for guests to make dinner there. The hostel also had a bar, so it happened that people who didn't even stay there came to have a glass in the evening, where they also have events on some days of the week. Great place to find friends if you're traveling alone !

The rooms were nice, and they even write your name on a little board on the bed so there is no danger of anyone stealing your bed.

Great hostel

I have read many great reviews about this hostel but when I came there, I was a bit disappointed. 
First of all, the room was wet (water was leaking all the time to the bucket) and some parts of plaster fell out from the ceiling and wall. The staff assured that it's temporary emergency situation though and it wasn't big problem for anyone in the room.
Secondly, the cabinets were under the beds and opening them made a lot of noise. You had to bring out all the necessary things evening earlier because otherwise you woke up all your roommates.
Advantages of the hostel include great location, nice and helpful staff and relatively good price. Everyone had own light and socket by his bed. I stayed in a room for 16 persons but still it was quiet. We had two bathrooms (male and female). There were not many girls, so there wasn't any problem with queues :)

I expected something better

A great hostel to stay, comfy beds, private bed light and plug, male and female bathrooms with glorious hot showers (yes, you have plenty of space to put your stuff), walking distance to city centre (or you can take the metro or tram if you feel lazy) and equipped kitchen. 
Lovely team, they even spoke Spanish with me, which was really nice and friendly of them. I added one extra night and they opened up space in the same room so that I wouldn't have to go through all the check-out/check-in hassle.
Amazing lounge area with free books, DVDs and video games. If you want to pkay with your mates, they apso have heaps of family games you can choose from. There is a bar and a lot of people chilling there all the time,, there was even a jam session on Friday night with beautiful music and great performers. I left that night and it broke my heart to have to go, I honestly wanted to stay even longer.
Highly recommended!!! Would definitely go back without hesitation :)

Great hostel, amazing people!!

Great hostel within walking distance to Part-Dieu. All clean, comfortable. Each room has 6-8 people. There's a bar if you're short in the city. You can use kitchen for cooking. The only drawback was rattling boxes for things that you can wake up sleeping neighbors.
