We stayed in the hotel in August last and had a really good experience. The hotel is in a great spot with gardens running down to the lake. There was loads of parking and the journey into the centre of Annecy was easy. Everyone on reception was friendly and efficient both on checking in and checking out. Our room had a good view of the lake with a small balcony and was comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was very good with nice food, pleasant atmosphere and good service. We would have eaten there on our second night but unfortunately the restaurant was closed. Breakfast was fine too. Hopefully we will get a chance to return next year.

Good experience 

We stayed here for 5 nights and were very pleased with our choice. A superb setting on the shoreline of Lake Annecy with lawns stretching down to the lake.

We had an air conditioned ground floor lake view classic room, which had a lovely bathroom with a large walk in shower. There was a comfortable bed and a proper kettle!! It was nice to make a coffee or tea and sit out on the terrace in the morning. If a small fridge for milk etc could be added, it would be another good thing.

Not really breakfast people, we usually had brunch with our children who were staying on a campsite in Sevrier.

We hope to return to Hotel clos Marcel next year. The layout and design, both inside and in the grounds felt very hyggelig as promised!

A Lovely Hygge Hotel ❤️

We did enjoyed our stay at the hotel, however we had some problems with our shower drain. The water would not go down and floaded the entire bathroom, which was not ideal. Rooms are very dark, which I personally don't enjoy, and can be very noisy when other guests walk and talk in the hallways. One can hear it all from the bedrooms. 

Staff is very friendly, parking is available and the lake views are gorgeous. I would come back and give a second chance.

Good location but can be improved.

We've been coming to Annecy for almost 40 years and for the past few years we've been driving past this hotel and thinking "that looks nice, we must stay there sometime".

In June 2022 we stayed in a Classic Room With Balcony and Sea View. The room was small but well designed and the balcony provided a beautiful view of the lake over to Talloires on the opposite side of the lake. 

There is a pontoon with swimming steps down to the lake, which is better than any hotel swimming pool and you can book private use of the sauna daily.

The restaurant menu was different from the one posted online and had we known this we'd have probably eaten elsewhere but the chef made an exception to accommodate me, which was excellent.

There were just two main courses on the menu - pork and fish - neither of which I can eat. However, the chef prepared a beef steak for me which was not on the menu which was superb but the menu does need more options - a beef of chicken dish for those of us who don't eat pork or lamb and also a vegan dish is needed these days. Not vegetarian, vegan, as vegans can't eat vegetarian but vegetarians will happily eat vegan. I'm not vegan by the way but my kids are and this is growing and needs to be accommodated. 

Despite the gripe about the restricted menu, what was prepared for me was excellent.

Superb location on lake

We managed to book on the drive down, was very lucky to get a room, ended up staying 3 nights, then another 3 after our main weeks holiday. 
Very friendly and helpful family run contemporary hotel. 
Large level terrace on to lawn which goes to the waters edge. 
Hot tub, sauna, sun loungers, hotel supply towels. 

Great place, great location 

We were super excited to stay at this property right on the edge of the lake. Upon arrival it was absolutely beautiful and we were happy with our choice. The receptionist gave us keys but no assistance with our luggage, which was fine. The minute we opened the room we were struck by the worst sewage smell ever. I cannot even describe how bad the smell was, it was like my dog had pooped 50 times and then it baked in the sun for hours after a rain storm. So bad. We called the reception and they came over, said the room was just made 15 minutes prior (wow!) and that they would come fix it. A few minutes later the cleaning person showed up, sprayed the room full of awful air freshener and ran some water down the shower drain. When we went back in the room I wasn't sure what was worse, the original stench or the new smell of rotten flowers. Eventually after much arguing and lying about how they had no other rooms free, magically a room appeared on the 2nd floor. There are no elevators here so we had to carry all our luggage and a baby stroller up a narrow winding staircase, again with no assistance. The wifi didn't work and the property manager was extremely rude to my wife when she asked about it. Overall would never stay here again or recommend to someone.

Welcome to your room that smells like a public toilet

We stopped here for the night on our way back. 
The hotel is contemporary and comfortable with well finished details. Our room had the most amazing view. 
The staff super friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food did not disappoint. Would definitely stay here again. 

Loved this hotel 

My wife and I stayed for two nights in June 2018 at the Hotel Clos Marcel, Lake Annecy the weather was very hot and our hotel room to our utter surprise had no air conditioning so we spent two very uncomfortable nights, unfortunately we had paid in advance so were unable to leave early. My wife also considered the bathroom disappointing when putting on her make up as she felt it was badly lit,  we thought the food was very good but very little on a plate and at one point we were going to share a desert but disappointingly there was not enough for my wife let alone to share and it was not a cheap desert. In our opinion the good points were that the hotel is in a very nice position with very nice grounds and the staff very friendly but because of the very disappointing room we would not be returning.

Hotel Clos Marcel

After spending a week in and around Lake Annecy we decided to head over to this hotel for dinner. The setting is picture postcard and we enjoyed drinks on the rear lawn overlooking the lake. We then heading inside for dinner in the restaurant. The staff were helpful and their English was excellent. The menu looked fantastic and we went ahead and ordered. The food itself was flavourless and disappointing. Two out of three dishes went back to the kitchen for various restaurants including hair in the food. The main course followed on from the disappointing starter with more of the same, little seasoning, lack of flavour and 3 dishes all very different temperatures. We paid up and left feeling dissatisfied. A great location, a poor meal. Avoid if you're a food lover.

Beautiful property, disappointing food.

Chambre niveau Formule 1 (avec quand meme une belle salle de bains)mais a 250 Euros la nuit ! A EVITER A TOUT PRIX ! ARNAQUE A TOURISTES !

We stayed at Le Clos Marcel in the summer of 2017 in a “mountain view room” and we have to say that this place fell completely short of our expectations and is COMPLETELY OVERPRICED for what it is. We thought that considering this is a 4 Star Hotel by the lake, we would have a nice room: BIG MISTAKE!

Our room was a TINY ROOM, with barely 1 meter (3 feet) on each side of the bed. The VIEW WAS ON THE MAIN ROAD that runs right in front of the hotel. This is the main road that runs around the lake and there is a lot of traffic in the summertime. The icing on the cake was that THERE ISNT ANY AIR CONDITIONING, and the ROOMS GET REALLY HOT as they’re located under the roof…When we checked in, the temperature in the room was about 27 degrees celsius (80 Fahrenheit) considering that the outside temperature wasn’t even very hot! There also aren’t any fans. To be fair, after several complaints about the heat in our rorom, we were told on the 4th day that they could put a fan in our room. So the only way to escape the heat was to open the window facing this loud road! We basically felt like we were sleeping on the roadside with all this noise, constantly being woken up by trucks passing by. On top of that, the owners aren’t friendly and definitely care more about $$$ than their guests’ well being. There are many other nice hotels in the area for a fraction of the cost. This is a typical tourist trap!
