Great Location, near plaza foch. good atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, helped us with information about what to do in Quito. very economic. have all what a backpacker need, highly recommended..

Great Hostel in the center of Quito

It's just another cheap hostel in my opinion, there's nothing special, but nothing especially wrong with it either in this price range. Don't stay here if you're expecting a hotel quality.

The breakfast is a crossant with some eggs, a banana, and warm (not hot) coffee.

The people working the desk were very nice and helpful, all but one spoke English, some of their English was better than others. Most of the time I tried speaking with them in Spanish, but I didn't NEED to do this.

It's in a good location - you're a 2 block stroll away from the city square that has a lot of local places to eat, and a lot of sit down restaurants with some good eats! This is also a good place to catch a taxi, although it should be easy to get one right outside the hostel's door. This hostel is also walking distance to the market where you can go haggle with the locals and buy some gifts before you leave.

A few people were complaining about the lack of hot water in the showers - the hot water heater is attached to the shower head which is strange, but it works fine.. but it can only heat the water so quickly so you can't turn the water on full pressure or it won't be in the shower head long enough to heat up.

Good price and location

I'll start off with the positives...I like the location of this hostel, as it is close to bars and restaurants, feels very safe to walk at night, and not a party hostel. The staff member who checked me in was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area and Quito tourist sites.  The part that turned me off the most about this hostel (besides the cigarette butt that littered the stairway throughout my stay), was the smell of my room. I stored my bags while my room was being cleaned for check-in. When I returned hours later and brought my things to my room, upon opening the door I got a really strong whiff of body odor. The beds smelled sweaty! The window had been left open, with good reason, but it was cold at night and it had to be closed. There was no soap in the soap dispensers, and no hot water in the shower. I am no princess, usually pretty tolerant, but was told these things were included in the price. There was a broken lamp by the bed, along with other things that made the overall appearance seem rundown and dingy. The kitchen is compact and useful for basic needs-refrigerator, stove, a few dishes, but is dirty and not ideal for someone looking to prepare full meals. There are many hostels for the same price or cheaper nearby, and I would highly recommend checking those out instead!

Way better options close by!

Good location if you want to stay in the area of bars and clubs. Very helpful staff especially the night shift! Double room on first floor ('Cotopaxi') has the right size and light, avoid the dorms if you can. Breakfast is fair (banana, omelette, coffee, croissant), it can make a good start of your day, I appreciated that. 
Yet, here are the things which we considered to be a drawback: this place lacks common space, except for a tiny bench in the entrance hall and some tables in the breakfast area. If you have a late bus or plane to catch, luckily there are cafes nearby. Cleanliness is relative. We found plenty of hair in all the beds, she sheets had obviously not been changed. We had to wait for the boss to come and unlock the storage and take the new sheets out. The bunk bed room of four at the ground floor 'Mitad del Mundo') was extremely dark, it was impossible to pack our bags even with the light on. The basic double room at the ground floor, right near the breakfast area, was moldy and had one of the windows missing, covered by a cardboard piece. 
The shower was pretty cold, even if it was supposed to be hot. There are so many hostels in the neighbourhood, that I would recommend you to look further until things improve at Discovery Quito.

Could be a lot better!

Friends and I stayed here for four nights. The hostel was clean and our private room was spacious (two beds, tv, and private bathroom). The hostel is located in Foch square which is touristy when it comes to restaurants,bars, travel agency, etc. I would recommend to anyone.
