The owner gave us great instructions to find the room from the bus station.  It's in an unbeatable location in the old city walls immediately adjacent to the west gate.  We arrived at the restaurant downstairs and they called the owner who arrived within minutes of the call.  The owner was really helpful, he gave us a map of the city and recommended places to visit and eat.
The room was really large, with air-con, a large bed, sofa, en-suite bathroom with hairdryer and small kitchenette (stocked with free, basic supplies of seasonings, tea and coffee.)  
The room has character and is minutes from everywhere in the old city.  You're definitely in the midst of it all, but if you close the window it shuts out literally all noise.   We definitely recommend this place.

A perfect base to see the city.

The owner met us outside the flat and was really helpful giving us loads of great tips for places to go in Split.  The room was comfortable if a bit small, but had everything we could have wanted.  Loved the stay and loved the city.  We only stayed for 2 nights before going onto Vis, but well recommended.

Funky little place in a brilliant location

This place was just perfect for us; we were travelling on quite a tight budget but couldn't have asked for more for the price we paid. It was the most perfect location possible for exploring Split. It is so central that I decided to go for a wander around the city at 5am to see it when no-one else was around. The room was so homely, there was a small kitchen; only basic but we managed to cook 2 main meals on it with food we bought from the market. I really enjoyed leaning out of the window and watching people in the street and restraunt below. The owner was very helpful and showed us what was worth seeing etc., and the cupboards were well stocked with basics. I loved it here and I hope to go back some time. The only disadvantage I can think of is the fact that the room rattles when someone slams the door downstairs- enough to wake you up but what more would you expect from such an old building?

Perfect location, great value.

My review, to be honest, is quite similar to the last reviewer's comments about this apartment. It is situated in the best location by the restaurant Poseidon and the host is extremely friendly and his friend was very informative about the area. It's a very safe area and the apartment was very clean. There's a little kitchenette with 2 hobs, big fridge, separate bathroom (with little handy extras like toothpaste and a hair dryer), air con, tv (with English channels) and a double bed. Considering how close you are to everything, it's incredible how once you close the window, you hear nothing.

The apartment is very retro which was refreshing but there's a few aspects which would keep me from giving it 5 stars - the shower is a bit of a nuisance with the overflow, there's only one knife in the cutlery drawer which made eating in difficult and the bed wasn't too comfy with the springy mattress. That meant we didn't get the best night's sleep and there was a noisy person upstairs too.

Overall it's a lovely place and really cool to be in the city walls. It's pretty reasonable price wise, but I think it's probably best for couples. For a few days in Split, it was perfect!

Amazing location - some other aspects need work!

The location is exceptional, right behind the main square Narodni trg, inside the walls of the Palace of Diocletian. The owner Zvone is very very kind, willing  and helpful. According to the pictures it seemed a nice room recently refurbished. It is in a little alley behind the restaurant Poseidon. It is at the second floor, to reach it you have to climb old stairs which should really need maintenance. The room is furnished with old furniture, the bedroom is not that bad and there is a cooker available (if you are staying some days in Split, I suggest to buy shrimps or other very good and not expensive fish at the fish market and cook it there). There is a big fridge and the air conditioning as well. The problem in my opinion is the bathroom. A small basin without a proper drain but connected by a pipe with the shower. If you have a shower, after a minute the shower tray is overflowing. The room is cheap, but maybe not as cheap if you consider what is offers. Anyway, the location is so central that for a few days it is a good place to stay.
