The accommodation is run by a friendly owner. Rooms are comfortable and the cleanest I stayed in during my time in Puerto Viejo.

The complex is secure and rooms have a free safe. The accommodation is located off a quiet location, a short walk from the main drag.

Definitely value for money and I would stay again.

Clean and comfortable

Sandro was a perfect host. The Guarana hotel offers you a very beautiful room with a nice patio with hammock where you can chill and have privacy. The Guesthouse is well located but very quiet. The room is cleaned every day, fresh towels, and the kitchen is well equiped. The staff is sooo friendly and polite. Everything is made con corazon!!!! I recomend: Go there!!! Me and my husband wanted to stay for three nights...we stayed more than a week because we liked this place soooo much.

Great stay-got addicted to Guarana :)

I loved staying there: it was on a quiet block, but still close to the action with all the restaurants and the beach.  The ladies at the reception were friendly. One of them spoke English. Once inside on the way to my room, I was surrounded by the greenery. The room walls were sturdy for a tropical place. It had a nice shower and not overly cheesy design like the other place with AC I have checked.  My room did not have an AC, but the lush greenery, a fan and open windows compensated for it.  I felt safe, since the place locks for the night.  In the morning I woke up to the divine bird concerto and took a short walk towards the El Caribe bus stop to catch the bus to SJO Airport in San Jose. For the affordable price that I paid, I couldn't wish for more!

Were sleeping there 3 nights and were very pleased with everything. Sandro and other staff were extremely helpfull. Reasonable prices for very clean rooms with private bath and porch with hammock, in midst of lush garden. Would go there again definitely

Quiet and clean place, very helpfull staff

These nice rooms are clean and comfortable, with a hammock on the porch facing the lush courtyard garden. Not a super spacious room, but worked out well for the two of us. Location is nice- convenient in town, but off the main drag enough to be quieter at night. Also, there is a locked gate at night for extra security, although it felt very safe anyhow.  And the bilingual staff were so friendly and helpful.  No air conditioning but the ceiling fan was awesome- very comfortable. Great place!

Nice little rooms cooled by fans. convenient for everything, restaurants, bars, tour agencies etc , all withing walking distance  Very secure. Safes in room and hammock outside on porch.  A huge variety of cuisines to try.

Closeto the town center

I had a comfortable stay here. Nothing fancy, no A/C or T.V. but it didn't matter. Helpful people at the front desk along with the owner.
Rooms are cleaned daily.
Rooms 4 & 5 are probably the most quiet. Common kitchen and close to two supermarkets.

Good location

Short walk to the beach and local restaurants. Hotel has a kitchen for guests to prepare their own meals. Bike rental shops and supermarkets very close. It has a small jungle like garden in the center of the buildings.

central location

The location is great - a hundred yards from the main street in Puerto Viejo, and right next door to a grocery store.  The beds are comfortable enough, and it's quiet at night, but my shower did not have hot water (even though it had a water heater attached).  The kitchen is nice, if you want to cook, and they have cats and dogs.  The concierge was very helpful in setting up my moto rental and telling me where to go in town.

Not bad, but not great

Ugh, the fact that they advertise mosquito nets is a good of enough reason to skip this place. It is just ick, the towels are cheep and some days smelled like smoke, they pretend to provide soap, but it is so watered down it doesn't do anything. A few other things, you can hear the TV and conversations in other rooms, the ventilation is horrible- rooms hotter than outside and everything is just old. Oh and a friend had a bat in her mosquito net. Just stay away.
