I was here for 2 nights. The pool was refreshing for a dip, after arriving in late. The bunk bed style room was inconvenient, as I had to get up and down the stairs of a high bed. They will be adding breakfast, but this isn't formalized yet. The owner is friendly. She offered that her staff make me some yummy breakfast and juice for US $5, since I had an early group tour to do. It was nice enjoying this by the pool. She also arranged a bike rental for me for the day for US $7 from a private owner. The bike was ghetto, but it did the trick. The hotel is in Playa Negra, so there is some dirt road to navigate. After that, it's not too far to Peurto Viejo town. I underestimated how long it would take me to bike to Manzanillo for the 15 KM, and ended up getting caught biking in the dark. This is not safe. There are no cabs along the route either, until you get back to Peurto Viejo. Not all cabs have bike racks. The hotel dog Quattro is lovely. If you stay at this hotel, you also have some use of the services of nearby Banana Azul by the water. I would have stayed a 3rd night at Casa Vikingo had time allowed, but I was off to Rio Pacuare with shuttle pick up from the hotel.

My husband and I visited Casa Vikingo in May 2016... With us my family and some friends (total of 14 people)
The accommodation is perfect! Clean and friendly. Full equipped kitchens, clean pool (it was cleaned everyday in the morning by maintanance) it is great that Pia does not use clourine, she uses salt to clean the pool. Very helpful and friendly at all times, gardens are well kept, the beach is very close by and it is better than we expected.. At first we had the impression to be too far away but to be honest the place is that good we only visited town centre 1 day (we stayed 4) Pia is very flexible and helps out in anything you need. Will visit again no doubt, it has been one of the best family holidays we had so far. 👍

Great holiday! Amazing place to stay as family and couples.

My Mom and I stayed at Casa Vikingo for 10 days and loved it there. I wanted to stay longer! The accommodations were very beautiful-decorated with beautiful colors, the hospitality of the owner Pia was above and beyond. She is very warm and welcoming and very helpful for people traveling. We could go exploring or stay at the hotel and relax, cook in the kitchen and enjoy the gorgeous surroundings and take a dip the pool, it was kept very clean and so nice to have right outside your door. She also keeps bikes for you to rent to go to town.

Casa Vikingo has it all and at a great price.I definately will be staying there again.

We have been to Puerto Viejo twice and will probably come more often. The accommodation is quiet, it is only a few minutes to the sea and there is a very nice pool. You can reach the city quickly by bike. The hosts were very nice. We also met the hostess's brother at the airport on the return flight.

Swedish Style in Puerto Viejo

We stayed a couple of nights at Vikingo.
It has a pool, shared kitchen, and a very nice and warm owner (pia) who is very helpful and friendly! 

The road to Vikingo consist of a dirt road with gravel. Don't walk if you have any suitcases, it's a hell, take a taxi or ask the owner to pick you up from puerto viejo.

The rooms at Vikingo are clean and basic. It has a bathroom with shower and toilet, and the room has fans.
Our room had a highsleeper, a little though to get climb in and out. On the mattress a could feel the springs in my back, not so comfy. No idea how this is in the other rooms.

Wifi is present, but slow and during evening and night  not working.

Pool is great and accessible all day and night! 

We also had some construction next to our room during our stay, but that shouldn't be the case in future stays.

Kitchen has everything you need, and is shared.
Ideal accommodation for backpackers and travellers.

With a bike or taxi puerto viejo is easily reachable, and if you walk you"l have a foodstore/supermarket at 15minutes distance! 

If you have any questions, ask the owner, she"s more willingly to help and speaks perfect english!
