We didn't have high expectations from the hotel based on reviews here but actually the reality was much better than imagined. The pool was only out of use one day we were there (out of five), the food was very good, the room was comfortable and had all the amenities advertised. The gardens are a nice place to relax. I am rating this hotel 5 stars because of the staff, who were exceptionally helpful, friendly and caring when my fiancee unexpectedly became ill. Due to hospitalisation, we were unable to make our flight and had to extend our stay; the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Although our holiday did not go as we had hoped, an unpleasant situation was made much better due to the warmth and hospitality of the employees of this hotel. I am sure we will return to Comoros one day and would not hesitate to stay at the Retaj again.
