We were very excited to come here, since it seem such a unique place, little we knew that this was not quite what we were hoping for. We've made a reservation over the phone and did not get any type of confirmation, since they didn't ask for a phone number nor email, they insisted just for us to come. When we arrived, they told us to drop the suitcase and come back...when we returned the office was closed at 5:30pm in a Thursday, a handyman tried to help us and he told us they were out of rooms. They have never communicated that with us. I spoke with the owner who told me it was making me a favor by moving me to a random hotel around the corner and that will cost her from her own pocket ... The conversation escalated and she started yelling at me telling me that she runs her hotel however the f### she wanted, after more yelling I ended up hanging up the phone.
Not a serious hostel, "hotel" seems like quite an stretch. I've also noticed a very strong sewer odor at the lobby, so I'll definitely not recommend this place, unless you are willing to put up with whatever is going on here.

Unprofessional hostel

This is a fantastic hotel just a few blocks from the centre of Punta Arenas. The hotel is warm, comfortable and welcoming - very comfortable beds and an amazing dining area. 

The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful.

The hotel is dedicated is dedicated to the culture of the indigenous Selk'nam people of Tierra del Fuego and is full of exhibits, masks, explanations and photos - as good as any small museum and worth visiting if only for that.

I have read some very bad reviews of the hotel, but these are all old and much work has clearly been done since those were written.

I would strongly recommend anyone coming to Punta Arenas to stay at this hotel, and I will always stay here on any future visits.

Fantastic hotel; the only place to stay in Punta Arenas.

i thought it was neat their windows had posters of the sites posted outside lol!!!  otherwise you'd be looking at a wall, so i thought it was a nice touch

Our room was very smelly, room 12.  Like urine. Bed was ok. Bathroom ok. The window blind was broken. Floor boards were unfinished wood and I have a feeling this was the origin of the smell. I could not recommend this establishment as is but I thought it had great potential. Had a certain charm and warmth but it just didn’t seem clean, in general. Could be nice with new floors (non porous) and new paint. The staff were nice enough. We only stayed one night.

We arrived and the only front desk staff was out busy taking other guests to their lodging, the place has apparently overbooked not only us but others as well.  When she returns (25 mins later), she told us we don't have a reservation.  She looked stressed and was not being helpful even when we show her our reservation on expedia (it was around 9 pm and we are a couple with 2 young kids and luggages - 7 and 9 years old).  Only after another guess who spoke Spanish intervene, she then reluctantly agreed to take us to a "comparable" lodging down the street but it was not comparable at all.  The other lodging was older, the room was really design for 1 double bed and it didn't have a lodging/hangout place like casa cain (bathroom was small and smelled).  We didn't argue any more because we didn't want to scramble for a room in the middle of the night (raining with 2 kids).  But Casa Hain did not work hard at taking care of their guests -

After a wonderful trip to the Torres del Paine area, we reserved the Hain Casa hotel for our return trip.  Walking in, the hotel smelled of animals, cats?  

Needless to say, we were surprised and taken aback when the clerk advised us that they would not accept credit cards, only cash.  When we said that we didn't have that much cash, she advised us to walk to the nearest bank and get some that night or by 8:00am (apparently the time she got off work?)

It was obvious that the night clerk was skimming cash or trying to avoid paying the IVA tax?  Either way, we were out of there.

Avoid at all costs, credit cards included!

The hotel is very simple. Rooms are basic but overall comfortable enough. If you are looking for a low cost hotel and are not too fussed about luxury this place is just fine. The staff are friendly and helpful. No complaints.

Simple, low cost accomodation

We stayed for 2 nights in the Hain Hotel, luckily there was one staff member who spoke english all the other guys just spoke spanish. Well the room was tiny and not very clean. The breakfast was good and the location of the hotel is also good, you can walk to the city center.

Today we booked this "hotel", but it was horrible. Room not clean, bed not clean. We stayed one minute and escape from this place. Not recommended. Rooms are under construction.
