We stayed here for one night only and the snow was deep all around the area. But our ground floor room was warm and cozy and provided us with all that we needed. The bathroom was a bit basic though with shampoo etc in sachets; could do better! The location is fantastic; a lovely old building just by the river and right in the historical heart of the city. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. We enjoyed our stay.

Great location

This is a historic old house, a former American Consulate in the 19th century which is perfectly located to enjoy the best of Trois Rivieres. It is steps from the river promenade, (which happened to be hosting a food festival during our visit) and equally is minutes away from the older historic neighbourhood of churches and convents from the 18th century and the downtown area which is full of cafes, restaurants and other urban attractions.

Although the parking is cramped it was well laid out and with the cooperation of other guests we had no problems arriving or leaving. The room was tastefully decorated and for our one night stay it was very comfortable. We even enjoyed the use of the small table for two for appetizers before we went out to enjoy the full experience of Trois Rivieres night life on a Saturday evening in early September.

Charming Historic House: superb location.

The 'studios' are located really close to the main street, and the central part of Trois-Rivières, once your car parked (a bit tricky) you can do the rest by foot. The owner is really a friendly guy, with lots of good advice on what to visit. We spent two nights there, both were calm and restful. Bed was comfortable. There is a small kitchen in the room, quite nice for an early coffee at dawn !
I would recommend the place as starting point to visit Trois-Rivières.

Ideal location, Charming house

Charming place to stay!  Loved it for the ambience, location, and the history.  Would highly recommend for a stay as it is a self contained unit.  We had booked a small studio but the owner upgraded our room at no extra cost to a bigger studio!  The only drawback was minor...no hair dryer.   Trios Rivière is definitely worth a visit and the location of this hotel is outstanding.  Thank you Guy!

Planned trip to Tris Rivière on our way to Quebec City area

We stayed here for three nights during a trip through Quebec. The location is very convenient and is within walking distance of the St. Lawrence River and the main restaurant area. The rates are very reasonable. We stayed in Studio #2; it was attractively furnished, but was much smaller than it appeared to be on the internet pictures. It lacked storage space for clothing. There were hooks for hanging clothing instead of a closet, which worked OK for the short time we were there; but would not have worked well for a longer stay. There was no place to put folded clothing; this could have been solved easily by placing a small bureau with drawers on the right side of the bed. There was no lighting on the right side of the room. The lighting in the studio consisted of track lighting in the kitchen area and a table lamp on a shelf on the left side of the bed. This problem would have been solved by placing a table lamp on the non-existent table or bureau on the right side of the bed and a torchiere in the corner near the right front of the room. The kitchen was sparsely furnished and lacked a dish drainer, although it worked adequately for a short stay. The bathroom is miniscule. There is a small shower and very little room to even turn around.

There was a major problem with parking. There are six units in the house in which the studios are located, and each one is assigned a parking space. The problem is that the spaces are not adequate for even small vehicles. We have a Honda Fit, so would expect to have less of a problem than someone with an average-sized car or an SUV. One space is located at the bottom of stairs to the second floor; the ability to park in that space and to get out of it depends entirely on how others park and the size of the other vehicles. It is extremely likely that one could park there and not be able to get out. An SUV would not even be able to get into the space. Fortunately, that was not our space. The other problem is that other tenants parked in the wrong spaces or in places which were not designated spaces. We went out to dinner one evening and came back to find that someone had taken our space. There is no on street parking, so we were forced to park in another space. We e-mailed the owner to tell him what happened and received a response that we needn’t be concerned that we had to park in another space. There were no regrets expressed for our inconvenience.

Two units are on the first floor, but the the other units are on the second and third floor and are only accessible by outside stairs. I would recommend Les Studios du huard with reservations. I would not recommend Studio #2, unless the problems of storage space and lighting were addressed. If you are expecting to have space to park and not having someone else take your space, however, that would be a deal breaker.
