This bed & Breakfast is run by a friendly bi-lingual gentleman named Pierre and is ideally located just a few blocks from Notre Dame Basilica, ByWard Market, the Fine Arts Museum, Parliament Hill and Rideau Canal. 

Parking is available in his driveway. Our room had central heat and a flat screen television. A shared bathroom is down the hall. The included freshly cooked breakfast was very filling and expertly prepared. Pierre or his mother was almost always available and ready to answer any of our questions. Pierre lives next door and will give you his phone number when you check in.

We stayed at the Auberges des Arts for two nights and Chantalle and Pierre were wonderful hosts.  Breakfasts amazing and Pierre was happy to make you anything.  Rooms are clean.  Recommend the room with the en suite bathroom.  We were supposed to stay one more night but we cancelled last minute.  We came back to pay and Pierre said their was no charge as he was able to rent the room.  This was over and above because he didn't even charge us a cancellation fee.  As a previous poster said, the décor is not new so if you are looking for a brand new place, this is not it.  Having said that, we would stay there again.

Wonderful hosts

I cannot really add to what has gone before but for us (my partner and I) this was absolutely ideal in every respect. Our room had a next door kitchen as well as an en-suite bathroom, bed was comfortable (I am a bad sleeper but certainly not here), area is quiet, host is extremely personable and serves wonderful, filling breakfasts. It is around  minutes walk to the Byward market 15 minutes to the centre of Ottowa. Decor is a little shabby but personally, I think this is of no significance. Not a great public transport link to the rail station (20 mins walk to the bus to the station\) but I think that this will change when the new light rail system for Ottowa is running later in 2019.

Ideal

I’d missed a connection flight and had arrived a day late. I said I was hungry, and Pierre made me a big breakfast well outside breakfast hours. No B&B had ever done that for me. Pierre is THAT special.

Also, I was there in the coldest weekend of winter, and my room was very warm.

Attentive

I had booked this small  BandB for one night with expected arrival of 6ish pm from Vancouver.  Weather/plane delayed me 5 hours but Pierre offered to take me in no matter what hour.  I was delayed again with maybe eta of  2 a.m. - way past check-in.  He was still willing to wait for me.  At that point I wasn't sure when I'd get in so I apologized, said don't wait up past 2, just bill me since he'd obviously lost any other bookings by that time.  That's the kind of person I am.  He offered to still wait if I wanted.  That's the kind of person he is.   I didn't get in until 3, and opted to just go straight to my home since I knew I was too overtired to sleep. Even though I was willing to absorb the full cost as I hadn't formally cancelled, he still charged me only the cancellation fee.  I phoned and thanked him, he was entitled to charge far more.  You better believe I will try and stay there at some point, if only to support a small business owner who really made me feel like a valued customer.

What I mean is that it is the best two star accommodation I've ever stayed in.  
Pierre is the most helpful host, and happily sits with guests to map out where to find all the tourist attractions around Ottawa - his local knowledge is incredible.  
The breakfast is outstanding - I highly recommend the french toast, but the options are endless, including crepes, omlettes, fruit, juice, tea, coffee.
They can accommodate up to a maximum of 12 guests at any one time, and everyone I met around the breakfst table was friendly and chatty - even with language barriers!
And the location is fantastic!  So close to all the awesome restaurants in the Byward Market, and comfortable walking distance to all the main attractions.
So I loved my stay and will definately be back.  
Note - if your taste is more the brand new, interior designer decorating, completely soundproofed walls, then this place may not be for you.



5 star, 2 star B&B

Although we had to use this Bed & Breakfast just for a night, we were happy with almost everything related to our stay. This property is located on a quiet street, but within walking distance from the Parliament, Byward Market and Rideau Canal. We arrived sometime in the afternoon. Pierre showed me where to park the car and offered us freshly made tea that was very refreshing after a long day. It was nice talking to him and he provided some useful information that stood in good stead for us. He also kept our car key to place our car in front after arrival of the last guest. We were to leave early the next day and didn’t want to spend time getting our car out from the tight parking space.

The décor of the room was not run of the mill, rather quite different with unusual design and colors. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and I liked the wall tiles.

Pierre agreed to make us breakfast the following morning a little earlier than the usual time (although he overslept and showed up a little after the agreed time). He made us delectable vegetable and cheese omelettes that we had with whole grain bread toasted to perfection and good coffee. It would have been all perfect if he offered the same bread rather than a regular one when my wife asked for another slice.
