l'autre auberge

Our hosts were very welcoming and accommodating - we had a stay booked in the Jacques Cartier park in the middle of our stay in L'autre Auberge and they allowed us to leave our bags with them during our visit (to clarify, we didn't ask, they offered!). The place is set up very well in that the host family live on the ground floor so that everyone can go about their day independently but you are close enough to get in touch if you need to! Bedroom was spacious and comfortable. The place was very clean and had a relaxed, homely feel. Breakfast was lovely freshly-cut bread with preserves etc. I think there were other things on offer too (cereal, yoghurt I think - we stayed back in September!) but the bread was so yummy. We were shown a path that would take us to town - lovely walk in the sunlight, perhaps not so much on a dark day. I think it took us about 45 minutes. There is a bus stop just a few minutes down the road if you don't fancy the walk. We didn't go out much nearby as the surrounding area looks very residential (and there are lots of restaurants in town). There is a shop (newsagent) just across the road if you need it. Hosts had great recommendations for things to do and were great to chat with over breakfast. Would definitely stay there again. One criticism - it was hard to spot from the road - see the pictures of the front of the place and you will know what I mean. Also bear in mind that there are stairs up to the front door (luggage!). Overall great value for money.
