Gite De Brouage

If you are looking for a quiet, clean and very welcoming place to stay near ottawa, this is it. While it is not be located in Ottawa (it is about 15 minutes from downtown, in regular traffic!!), it really pays off to be away from all the noise. It is really like the countryside, very very quiet and relaxing, just what most people need during their vacation. This Gite is a family operated business, it feels like visiting friends. The hosts are very gratious and welcoming, they go out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfast they offer is well-knwon and quiet apprecaited with all guests and they make their best to accommodate even special diets (my family is vegan). Most of it is home-made and you can definitely taste the difference. The Gite has three rooms tha share a bathroom, and if you are on a tichgt schedule, well, you have to take that into cosideration---there can be some waiting time if all guests wake up at the same hour. It happened to us, although we only stayed one night. Nevertheless, the bathroom, as well and everything else, was very very clean. The rooms are very small, but extremely confortable, our kind was a double, although we were expecting a queen size (when you are pregnant and co-sleep with a toddler it does make a diference). As in most houses, they are not sound-proof, so if you are a light sleeper, it could make a difference. I should not forget the gite is child-friendly, which is important for families, right??? All in all, it was a wodnerful experience, and if we need somewhere to sleep in Ottawa again, this is definiletely where we are going-- it is a home away from home.
