A great location in the old town. Close to bars, restaurants and shops.The manager could not have been more friendly and helpful. The price was appropriate for the standard. We all agreed we ould gladly stay again.

Comfortable and friendly 

We found the Comfort Hotel when booking dot com let us down (again) on our original booking down the road and how serendipitous was that!

The host Antonio was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, despite a recent death in the family.

The hotel is superbly located with fantastic views of the fortress.

Great host, fantastic location

This was my third visit to Hotel Comfort and it was every bit as good as the other two visits.
We stay at this family owned and run hotel as we believe it is important to support local business and not line the pockets of multi-nationals. It is true that you do not get 5 star luxury, but what you do get is the experience of staying in an authentic Bulgarian hotel which is run by the the family who own it and have a passion for providing a great experience for their guests. Antonio also speaks fluent English having travelled extensively and lived in both the United States and England.

The hotel is situated in the old part of the town which is very close to the centre and is also very close to the artizan shops too, where you can buy souvineers from local craftsmen and women. You are also very close to authentic Bulgarian restaurants and bars which offer great value meals and drinks.
 
The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable (as the name suggests) and have wi-fi and aircon. Don't expect sleek 21st century decor as the hotel is in a very charming Bulgarian style which adds to having an authentic Bulgarian experience.

The best part though, is that all the rooms look directly on to the Tsaravets Fortress accross the stunning valley and the light-show at night is a truly breathtaking experience.
If you, like us, you feel it is important to support local business who offer great authentic accommodation at a very reasonable price please visit this hotel on your next trip to Veliko Tarnovo. I am sure Antonio and Vinnetta will offer you a super friendly Bulgarian welcome.

The best view in town for the Light Show.

The location is in the old town. One has to drive one's car very slowly down the ancient bumpy stone road, but the new town of VT is relatively characterless and dull. The Comfort is an Old School family hotel in an excellent position. The owner has put up numerous adverts for the Hotel Comfort all over the place and these are quite confusing. I banged on the door of a derelict old building, which bore a large sign saying "Hotel Comfort."  I was only glad that it wasn't.  A helpful local told me it was just "publicity" and directed me to the real hotel 100 or so yards away! The hotel (once located) is excellent. The landlord was very helpful and friendly. It has its own car park. It is very clean and basic. The rooms are quite adequate and comfortable. It is wonderful value for money.

YOU MIGHT HAVE DIFFICULTY FINDING IT

Hotel located in the historic center with a great view on the Ancient Fortress of Veliko Tarnovo. The host was very kind and there was also a parking for the car. Excellent value for money ! Absolutely recommended !

Great view on the Ancient Fortress

We stayed here for 2 nights. Very tricky narrow cobbled streets to negotiate before arriving at property. Parking is 2 deep and a real squeeze if hotel is fully occupied. Very nice and friendly lady owner.

No lift, but it's worth dragging cases up 4 flights of stairs to get to a balcony with one of the most spectacular views in Europe. You can see the fortress as well as part of the town and a church by the river, and bills and river valleys all around, with swallows swooping around. Very few places will have this good a view in Veliko.  I'm not good with heights, but there's a bit of roof in front of the balcony, which gives some comfort without obscuring the amazing view.  Easy walking distance to main centre.

There are a few negatives - tiny impractical sink and poor quality towels. But it's really all about the view.
