We had a lovely time staying in Old Town Sozopol. The hotel is a short and fun walk to the beach. There are several excellent restaurants very close, and the hotel restaurant is good, as well.

The “Presidential Suite” at the top of Sector A was spacious and comfortable. However, it’s in need of many repairs. None of these were deal-breakers for us, but I’m sharing photos here in case you are more sensitive to stuff like this. We had to ask for clean towels. The floor was not swept once during our 6-day stay. The WC window has a view directly into the showers and toilets of bathrooms in the next building.

The staff are fantastic. Everyone was nice
and very accommodating once you ask for toilet paper, clean sheets, beds made up, etc.

Needs some repairs & cleaning, otherwise nice

I am strongly disappointed. For the price they charge per night, I did not expect to have an uncomfortable old spring "mattress" if you can even call this a mattress. Even when we said that we literally cannot sleep from the pain it causes and I am pregnant, they said many guests have complained and they cant do anything about it. Apart from this, they have nice breakfast options and a beautiful sea view from the room. The location is good and the AC was working fine.

The room are very good, they have e perfect view. Food is really good, a bit expensive but really good. Bad think is that waiters choose who will sit in the restaurant, when i was there with my girlfriend everything was good. But when i goes there with my friends (6 people) they just bring us a menu.. and leave us like this for 40 min literally .... From the begining we think they have a lot of work but it wasn't.... They didn't ask us even for drinks... So we decided to leave and after 20 sec behind us the waiter fix the table for the next clients.....

Bad service

The rooms were very dirty. The service was awful, the maids did not clean the rooms. 
The breakfast every day start later then the said hour. Only the view was nice. The money what we pay did not worth what we get. 


The SAVING GRACE of Sozopol!

As I professional traveler & a Gastro expert I can confidently say, that in these turbulent HOPEFULLY POSTpandemic times, if you do find yourselves in Sozopol and you want to dine somewhere the only place you should be considering is Casa del Mare. 

From the enthralling atmosphere with tables perched on the precipitous cliffs, through the eclectic menu and immaculate service (my server’s name was Ljubomila) our experience was top notch. 

There are numerous restaurants in Sozopol with the “friendly” folks standing outside ushering you in; Casa del Mare Strand stands out with its minimal elegance and outward unspoken hospitality.

All was good, just the restaurant wasn't operational and we had to search for breakfast around for 50 min. Ashtrays are provided in the rooms and some of the staff smoke in the lobby at the bottom of the stairs.

Was a great walk though. There are quite some archaeological places within the old town.

Great location in old town, limited options for breakfast

Sozopol is very charming and a real historic little port! However, Casa del Mare is a pretty average hotel that is luckily for them saved by absolutely stunning views across the Bay. The rooms are large and clean but pretty basic and the food at breakfast, although limited, is fresh and locally sourced. Don't expect to drive into Sozopol and be able to park in the old town - almost impossible and no parking at the hotel. Overall what you'd expect from a 3* hotel in an old little seaside town. 

Average place but amazing views!

First the great things about this hotel: the location is great, right in the old town, near amazing restaurants, and a short walk to the beach. The staff is friendly, and the views from the sea facing rooms are amazing. I certainly recommend paying the modest premium for sea view rooms. 

The not so great things about this hotel are that the restaurant seems to be closed. Which is only really problem for breakfast (see above-amazing restaurants are a short walk in any direction). However, the breakfasts were a modest fair of prepackaged containers with cheese, meat, fruit, jam, and bread (one morning there were cheese pies which were actually excellent). Coffee and milk is available, but no juices. I was content with the offerings, but for a hotel in this range, I would expect more. The other thing is that the A/C did not work in our room. We did not seek a new room, as the weather was warm but manageable, and we enjoyed sleeping with the door to the balcony open and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing. There is also no lift in the hotel if that is a consideration. 

Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but it does lack some of the "luxuries" one might expect of a nice hotel in one of the higher price points for Sozopol.
