Riskyoff Hotel

So i’m going to be completely honest, i took a chance booking this hotel, there wasnt many trip advisor reviews (especially recently) and that normally puts me off however i looked on booking.com and it was well reviewed there so took a ‘risk’ (excuse the pun) and it payed off! I’ll do a detailed review due to the lack on here, so excuse the waffle. This hotel is basic, however they dont advertise as anything different, but what it is is clean, tidy, warm and comfy! We have stayed in bansko for 2 weeks, 4 nights in Hotel Riskyoff and 10 in Winslow Infinity (big spa hotel that cost triple the price) well we actually tried to cancel winslow hotel and return to riskyoff. Location - old town, its quieter, bars are cheaper and i found restaurants to be nicer (less touristy), 10-15 minute walk to the gondola however for €1/ 2lev christo (a friendly local buisnessman) will drop you off right by the gondola and pick you up at whatever time you want at the end of the day. Facilities - ensuite rooms with good warm powerful showers, a beautiful mountain view from our room(see photo). Theres a lockable ski store room where we stored our ski’s and kit. Although there isnt any tea/coffee/kitchen facilities in the room however Veronika told us that we could cook in the kitchen and make ourselves sandwiches etc. If we got hungry. There is a bar/coffee machine downstairs that we can help ourselves too throughout the night and just let Veronika know what we had. Breakfast - Veronika comes in at 0800 everyday to make breakfast, its a small choices but she changes a dish a day so there is a variety and it was plenty for us. Meats/cheeses/toast/eggs (variety)/sausages and more. There were days that we wanted to catch the early gondola to try and beat the queues and Veronika very kindly put a toastie in a bag for us to eat while in the queue. Coffee is good and strong. Veronika - she is the owner and the main reason we loved this hotel, she is so friendly and will go out of her way to get you/organise/find out whatever you need, she makes sure you dont get ripped off by bulgarian taxi companies. She is so smiley and happy and Interested in hearing about your day. An amazing family run hotel with a great host. We will certainly stay here again!
